Re: Another TV-out diy guide simple
I tried this one from expansys http://www.expansys-usa.com/p.aspx?i=176590 and it worked. Image isn't great but it was only a test run, on a 32" LCD. Now I'll try it on the nav in the car. Thanks for the input.

Help, I did this and can't get the video to work.
I used the adapter -see picture #1- (the one that was discussed at length earlier in the thread from ebay) and cut the blue wire (you can see in the picture the small section of the blue wire that is missing. And plugged in this cable from a DVD player I had - see picture #2. The phone plays the audio but not the video and doesn't open the TV Out program like it does when I plugin my Canon camera cable (which doesn't work either, but at least I know that TV Out is on the rom - scroslers 2.0 rom for VZW). I tried all combinations and know that the red and white are left and right audio becuase I can hear it as I plug them in. Do you think it is the adapter or the cable? Any ideas? Help please! ... Thanks. I'd hate to have to start over from scratch. |

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=49402&page=6 I broke pin 4, and didn't take the casing off as you've done. The problem MIGHT be that the color coding is different than what was used in the adapter that comes from the touch pro. Have you confirmed that the blue cable connects to pin 4? Otherwise, the Idiot and Dr g were unable to get the adapter to work just by breaking pin 4. If you break pin 4 (or cut the right cable) you should get the tv out screen to pop up even BEFORE you attach the camcorder cable. So the camcorder cable is not the problem YET. You have to get the adapter to work right first before testing the cable. |
Re: Another TV-out diy guide simple
Again, NO, that is not always true. Such is the case for cutting the wire in the multi-adapter. You have to plug in a rca cable first before it will recognize it as tv out. Or you could plug in any of your standard headphones...although they will not work because once the wire is cut, it's tv-out only...but it will still trigger the tv-out screen on the phone. However, you can get another multi-adapter cheaply on ebay if desired.

I have heard reports both ways ... oddly enough. Just enough to make things even more confusing for people trying to DIY.

Re: Another TV-out diy guide simple
using the tp adapter and a regular camcorder video out cable, this method works perfect. i cut the blue wire in the adapter and voila that was all. the tv out pop-up didnt come up until i plugged the video cable in but then it worked great. i also had to use the red as the video and the yellow and the white are the audio. this was a great find.

I gave up on the adapter I bought on ebay and broke pin 4 on the adapter that came with my VZW touch pro. When I plugin the cable that came with my DVD player the TV out prog opens on the phone but I get no video (no matter what combination of plugins I use), and there is a loud hiss. I can hear the sound but it is pretty faint and is much too loud to turn down (and turn up the phone volume) and get anything close to decent as far as sound goes. And no video no matter what. Does this mean my DVD cable is not the right kind or that I screwed up the pins? I later cut the blue wire and this didn't have any effect.
By the way, for those thinking about trying this, breaking the pin is difficult. Cutting the blue wire is much easier. A picture of my cable is attached. Thanks. |
