Back to dying the cover. I have looked into doing some home anodizing, and some say this dye works for coloring the aluminum. However, for anodizing they recomend boiling the anodized part to seal the color in, maybe the same thing could be done here to seal the dye in the cover. Many guys who seal using boiling water say some of the color may come out, so be prepared for that if you try this.

My TP will be in tomorrow, so maybe I'll give this a shot myself here in a little while.

Here is the blue..black..orange..and a black touch diamond cover... I tried a darker blue but it looked black so what I did on the second one was only use 3/4s of the packet of the blue color.. next i'm gonna try green...

Keep in mind you're mixing pigments, not light... they act differently. A quick google search found this:

Mixing pigments is subtractive. Mixing light is additive. Let's take the primary pigments, red, blue and yellow. Red pigment is red because it the chemical it is made of absorbs (subtracts) blue and yellow light that falls on it and reflects only red light to your eye. Similarly, blue pigment is blue because it absorbs red and yellow light and reflects only blue.

So when you mix the three primary pigments together, you produce something that absorbs all of the light falling on it in equal amounts and reflects nothing to your eye. Thus, it appears black.

Also... My cover is turning purple AGAIN. I originally dyed it with black liquid dye and it had a hard time picking up the color. I did straight liquid dye (no water) and almost boiling heat for about 25 minutes and it finally turned black from purple.

A couple of months later, the edges started turning purple, so I dyed it again with straight liquid dye.

Now it's been about two months again, and the edges are pretty purple again. I really wish this stuff would stick better.
