Re: A $1.48 goes a long way... Black Battery Cover!

I was just thinking about how people have reported that their sqeaking problems have gone away after doing this mod, due to the cover shrinking.

Perhaps this could be a solution to the squeaking problems even if people don't wish to dye their battery cover. I would've been willing to test this out, but I recently swapped my phone out for one that doesn't creak.

Any opinions on this?

Re: A $1.48 goes a long way... Black Battery Cover!

like it said in my previous posts. i did it, but now i regret it because of a few things

1) it does bleed or fade. First it was just a disinfecting wipe , then a baby wipe, now if i just put a little bit of water on a tissue and it does it too.

2) leaves smudges (if dark color -blue) and always have to wipe it.. (like sweat from holding it.

if i could go back, i would.

its not terrible......and doesnt wipe off dry, however that thought is always in the back of my head....that it fades.

Apparently you didn't read the thread. It's been mentioned numerous times that you can go to a Sprint store and ask for a spare.

Having a blue back and the rest of the case black might not look good to me and besides i like the black unless.... you took apart the whole phone and did the front too that would look cool

Re: A $1.48 goes a long way... Black Battery Cover!

today i unoriginally made mine black and it looks very sharp. The smell is not bad like some people made it sound. Def worth the $1.67 i spent on the die and the 30 minutes of cooking my lid.

EDIT: I didnt read all the posts but some people seemed concerned about what pot they use. I used a standard old teflon layered pot and it worked just fine without staining it or leaving behind any residual ink. in theory it shouldnt dye anything unless it is porous.
