he wants to "Truly" shut down data connections as is "Disable" not just turn it off, so that progarms will not autostart "Data",

I've been using modaco Nodata. On the Alltel touch pro stock it will toggle it off/disable, but data comes back on anyway.

Actually Nodata ended up working. you just have to rerun it if you soft reset as data will reenable. Now my battery life at home under light use has went from 30 mins or an hour to 8-10+ Now that it isnt continually trying to hit data.
