I have seen this issue before... I think this is an issue with CDMA technology... Google Maps uses both GPS and data to get its location and to update the maps... When you make a call or receive a call, your data stream gets interrupted, the data to Google Maps, and I think that Google Maps just can't re-sync properly after the data stream is interrupted, therefore requiring you to restart the program...

Do the same issues arise with the Sprint navigation application or with M.S. Live Search? I haven't experimented with these applications and simultaneous phone calls yet.

Yeah.. The data stream gets interrupted for any program that accesses the internet.. Those specific apps might not lock up like Google Maps does, but they do lose internet access (at least temporarily)
