hay also when your phone is announcing emails etc if you hit the power button does that stop also?
please we need to continue this discussion to find the answer

Mine turns off too. On all 5 Touch Pros I have owned. Stock ROM, no changes. The differences among all our Touch Pros are astounding. No two seem to be alike.

Re: Listening to music with display off

i just tested mine...and i have this problem as well. I tried everything, pressing play on the music tab then going to the today screen and then pressing the off button, it still shuts off. Is there an option we have to click?

Nope, it has to do with the way Windows interprets the power-off signal.

If you let your phone sit long enough, it will go into standby, even while playing music.

For some reason, on SOME/MOST of our Touch Pros, Windows is configured to go into a "deeper" state of power-savings.

Unless there truly is a setting for ONLY the media player. Has anyone who has problems with the music stopping--tried another player?

Re: Listening to music with display off

so would this stopping of the music when pressing the power button be a defect? or is it just the way some touch pro's are, while others are able to play?

Re: Listening to music with display off

By default, the power phone will still play music if you have headphones plugged in. If you are playing through the speaker, then the music will shut off if you press power. You can use a program to just blank the screen if you want to just turn off the screen. I think it works fine, since I rarely use the phone to play through the loud speaker.

Re: Listening to music with display off

Okay, we need clarification on this issue. When you are listening to music, are you using the speaker, a wired headset, or a bluetooth stereo headset?

I have had two TP's, if you press the power button using the speaker, the music willl stop. If you are using a buetooth stereo headset or a wired headset, the music will stay on when you hit the power button.

Please be clear on what you are using for your audio output. I am going to remove s2u2 and do a few tests to see if I can get the speaker working when pressing the power button (I remember it shutting off though).

Re: Listening to music with display off

it's been discussed many times in multiple threads... as 1999tl stated, if you use headphones you will be able to turn it off manually via power button. If playing through speaker, you can't do it manually but you can let the autoshutoff kick in and it will continue to play. It's the same on every device... remember on our old phones everyone complained how windows media player couldnt continue to play when the screen was powered off? Same thing...
If you want to play through the speaker and also use manual power off, use s2p or orb

Like I've stated before earlier, it cuts ALL of my connections if I hit the power button. If i have it plugged into my pc with active sync, it disconnects. Try going to the today screen and the pressing power.

Mine just started working out of the blue. Try to do a soft reset and then try doing what you did above again. It's so weird/frustrating

I am using stereo bluetooth headset, it didn't work before but now it is.

My Touch let me turn it off and play music, no problem. It did stutter for like 10ms or something, but it worked fine afterwards. This is with the speaker.

This is normal. If you push the power button on any WM phone it will disconnect Activesync. I have not tried this with BT activesync but it might do the same

It should have always worked with a headset

ahh i see... my mogul didn't let me and after that i discovered s2p so i didn't hear about the touch workin.. learn somethin new every day with these wm phones
maybe they felt they were doing us a favor by shutting certain things off when we turn off our screens.. sorta like a quick stop. That would explain why it's enabled with headphones.
When i'm wanting to turn the screen off or put it in my pocket i'm always using headphones or have it connected to my car stereo or house stereo, so luckily it doesn't mess with my usage... can't say the same for anyone using it as a poorman's radio. Sucks for them :/
At first, before I heard it worked fine with the headphones, i started to freak out haha... that would have been my first real complaint with the phone

I am interested to see if someone could somehow come up with a fix for musictab to use one of our other music players.. that would be sweet
