Does that have an appreciable effect on the device, in your estimation? Or is it just a mental hangup?

On my device, even with TF3D I regularly have over 100mb available, which is more than most other devices have TOTAL.

TF3D is great, the only thing that is an issue is the tab loading. After switching to a tab it takes a bit for it to show up.

I have been using Winterface ( http://www.iwindowsmobile.com
in place of TF3D, and i have really enjoyed how you can have exactly what you want right there....from programs, to contacts, to settings...whatever...

With other applications? TF3D has no appreciable effect on other applications as far as I have seen. We are talking about memory footprint and the effect thereof.

If you are referring to a comparison of TF3D vs the standard WM UI, that is an inappropriate and irrelevant point to make.

Advanced Configuration Tool

Both are good for making everything more speedy and responsive

If you want to test out your new 3D capabilities now that you installed 3D driver try this:
