Re: Insurance types

Here is the way Sprints works. There are actually 2 types. 1 ESRP- Equipment Service Repair Protection, that covers manufacture defects, certain types of damage and its $4 a month. 2 Is Asurion. Covers theft, loss, water damage at a $50 deductable, and costs $4 per month. If you get TEP (the combo of both) Spint gives you a HUGE $1 discount and thats why it is $7.

Re: Insurance types

i have both...i think paying $14 a month is not bad to fill over protected. both have flaws and the flaws are covered by the each other.

oh well...

That doesn't seem like a good deal at all. You bought 2 TPs for $60 but you're shelling out out the wazoo for insurance:
$14 a month X 12 months and you're paying $168...24 months (your contract term) and you're already paying $336, Add $50 to the total for a replacement through Asurion if you have to go through them...pretty crazy how the numbers add up so quickly huh? Definitely not worth the money to "Feel over protected" if you ask me. It's like getting car insurance from both AIG and Geico, you're just feeding the corporate cows with your hard earned money. My advice, cancel one, save money, over a period of time the money saved will pay for the phone by itself.

Re: Insurance types

I'm gonna go against the status quo and say that all you need is the Best Buy insurance. It's what I have, and quite frankly it covers everything except lost/stolen phones.

But YMMV based on your needs.

Re: Insurance types

AFAIK TEP covers theft, damage, and defects and from my experience they have been easy to work with.

Best Buy is extremely easy to work with too, and is it correct that they don't have a deductible tied to their exchanges?

Re: Insurance types

Sprint doesn't have deductibles for defects and minor damage. You only have to go through insurance and pay the 50$ if you had your phone stolen/lost or water damaged. Sprints ESRP which is free replacement basically covers anything outside of that.

I find that Best Buy warranties are always a ripoff in terms of price-risk tradeoff.

But Best Buy does the exact same thing, minus covering the lost/stolen part. Frankly I'd rather deal with Best Buy then Sprint(over the phone or at their stores).

Re: Insurance types

I would go with sprint because your covered if its lost or damaged. Most of the time if you take your phone to a sprint repair store and they cant fix it they will give you a new one for free. I've also recieved new phones through ausurion for 50 bucks, sometimes they do send you a refurbished one. BUt with a lil complaining you can get a new phone, trust me.
