i use tippy, a guy over at xda made it and tried to make it as finger friendly as possible... i've used some others, but they have tiny buttons and can be annoying to use in a restaurant (don't want to be sitting there fiddling around when figuring out a tip, we need something quick!)

Bill amount * .10 * 2. Seriously how hard is it to do math in your head?

A 19.54 bill would be 1.95 * 2 for 20% or 3.90.

Some people want to tip a percentage that's not so clean depending on how service went... Keep in mind there are a lot of people out there that are terrible with numbers too.
The main thing is splitting bills among multiple people which would require additional dividing... if you wanna sit there doing the math that's great, but with a tip calc you press a few buttons and then it's there for you and everyone to see - no disputing.

The OP asked for a helpful app, not to be criticized.

edit: I recommend tippy/tipster - used both
lol Also comes in handy for those that don't usually use tipcalcs... in Bars or any place where drinking is involved... math while intoxicated can get messy and cause you to overtip!

since the link to Tippy is dead, i've attached v1.1 for everyone's convenience...i like tippy: its a no-frills calculator and seems perfect in those situations where you need to QUICKLY calculate the bill + tip, just enter the amount of the bill, the % of tip and the # of people and hit "Calculate". the program is pretty straightforward...enjoy!
