Charging 2-3 times a day to keep the TP powered.

Sounds about right, (for the Sprint Pro.) I wonder why the GSM models can last 2-3 days? Like the X1 and the Omnia...

Ya know, it's things like that that make me wanna hold out 'till I move to Orlando and just get a Fuze. But then I think about switching to GSM and missing out on you all!......that and I feel like the XDA people occationally have an attitude problem.

Re: A little tough Love about battery issues.

PPCgeeks is getting more GSM stuff too

The way I see it:

AT&T: Expensive, and makes your radios buzz--but you get simultaneous voice+data, and the freedom to use phones from all over the world. Similar devices use less power.

Sprint: Faster data, for now, but no voice+data, and cheaper/better plans. Similar devices use MUCH more power.

I can easily last the day with my CDMA Pro, and if I push the battery, can make 2 days. Be careful of who you believe, some people don't even own the Pro and continue to post here knocking it.

Re: A little tough Love about battery issues.

Man my Alltel CDMA phone can easily last 2 days if I push it.

I usually charge it every night and it has anywhere from 55%-70% battery remaining at the end of the day.

People that are charging the phone multiple times a day...something is wrong with your phone or battery.

Re: A little tough Love about battery issues.

people who are only getting half a day out of it must be using it heavily, but still have little-regular use expectations for battery life... if that's the case, u really should not be comparing yourself to the rest of us and making it sound like the phone is defective. all my touch pros last as long or longer than my moguls (24 or more hours)... and i have builds from october. a couple friends report the same from november builds... go read the tested talk time in all tech reviews and you'll see that it's the same as usual. the "expert reviewers" were not surprised by a crazy reduction in battery life or anything like that... they would have labeled the pro a complete failure if that was the case cause they're already harsh on WM phones. so ask yourself something.. is it the phone... or is it U?

i honestly believe that's the issue with battery life... unreasonable expectations for the way people use their phones. the charging issue while overheating is a completely different issue (if ur experiencing it), but the life itself is fine. that's just my opinion and experience with multiple pros.

Re: A little tough Love about battery issues.

Well orlando, I think there is truly a lack of power here. I understand that this phone is powerful, but it should be able to withstand a day of heavy use. Most standard phones will, so HTC should haveve adjusted accordingly for the power requirements.

I'm not complaining, but we can't exactly blame one thing on the battery life [or lack thereof]

Re: A little tough Love about battery issues.

- Well, I do have a TP as I have posted pictures of it along side my titan (in case there are any doubts)

- I use it heavily by running flex mail all day with lets say 7 imap accounts that are active all day

- i also txt like a mofo

- during the day not so much phone calls, but at night time i get to hookering.

- I have a poor signal in the building i work in. I usually have 1 or 0 evdo bars, and switches to 1x throughout the day.*

*it should be noted that my titan was the same, but with the extended battery and the heavy usage it would last for days. with no inet weeks! so that's how it is now, just phone no inet at all and its lasting for ever!

Re: A little tough Love about battery issues.

The problem we are having here is that there is absolutely no consistancy in what people believe is "heavy use."

I was having to charge my phone 2-3 times a day when I all I had running was Exchange (getting less than 10 emails a day,) gmail, checking once an hour, 10-30 minutes of talk, and about 50 text messages.

I don't consider that heavy use at all--I see that as extremely LIGHT use.

All I know, is with the same exact programs running, my Touch lasts all day, and has about 50% battery when I toss it on the charger.

It's possible that it's the build, or random-chance that I got all these faulty phones, but what is MORE likely, is that the radio is horribly flawed, (which we are all pretty much aware of,) and the fact that anything uses the radio at all, causes huge drain--more than any other WM phone, like the Touch.

So while checking a few emails and getting a few texts may not seem like a lot, for the Touch Pro, and it's radio power consumption, it is...

My brother was able to get 2-3 days with constant Exchange use, of over 300 emails a day... about 50 texts, and about an hour of calling each day.

I am convinced that it's just the CDMA radio. Hopefully a software update really can fix it...

@ Orlando... You DO realize that when the "Pros" review phones, they don't use them very long, right? The review comes out after a few hours of testing. They don't use it heavily, or for a month... One other thing to note, is that 99% of review sites, and "Pros," are reviewing the GSM model, and then they do a "quickie" on the CDMA version when it comes out... because they don't really care... CDMA is no where near as popular as GSM, unfortunately...

So the chances of a reviewer catching all the stuff that we are is pretty slim... Not one reviewer mentioned the poor build quality, unresponsive Touch screen that is nearly unusable around the edges, or that the phone gets extremely hot, or overheats, or any of that... Which leads me to believe that they mostly just copy-pasted their review of the GSM model, with a few highlights from the CDMA model---like if there was a different battery...
