Is it a misstatement to say that the TP literally will not charge unless the phone is completely inactive? Will a fully charged TP at least maintain its charge plugged into Power when using GPS. Or will it also drain the battery first, attempt to recharge and then overheat?
Yeah it's a misttatement. You can do a certain amount of stuff, and sometimes a differing amount from unit to unit, and the TP will continue to charge indefinitely. It's when you are pressing it and causing a lot of heat, such as streaming video or streaming audio + bluetooth, that the charging seems to stop. It will charge until it hits the cutoff point, and resume charging once it falls below the cutoff point again.

Is making a regular phone call, with no bluetooth, "pressing it?"

Depends how much heat is being generated. On this device, the cellular radio causes the most heat.

He's asking if you have to be doing nothing with your TP for it to charge. That is completely false, no matter how hard you try to create that impression.

Re: A little tough Love about battery issues.

The radio does generate most of the heat, but having BT radio and WiFi on certainly makes it hotter!

Try keeping those off, and hope for a heatshield in the next revision

I was being sarcastic. That is not pushing the hardware whatsoever. HTC just need to fix the damn thing.

I would be so happy if they fixed this, so I could buy another Pro.

No need to spread false impressions based on your personal disappointments. Everyone would like it to be fixed, but whether it's a dealbreaker is a personal decision.

Re: A little tough Love about battery issues.

Depending use, Today I worked in an area with no data service, but perfect roaming service..as the person who cuts the power of those who steal power. I am in constant contact with my lead person.. ( unlimited plan , he has free incoming) you would not believe the assaults on utility workers.. anyway.. 6hrs.. with out a charge while talking and getting directions. I had turned everything off but the phone radio and the blue tooth.. and I know the battery heats during extended use.. but having that heat in the shirt pocket felt good on this cold day. normally battery time is 4 hours when data is running and talking... as soon as I find the link I will post it here.. nifty lil gadget

huh? all I was saying is that simply making a phone call is NOT pushing the hardware... it was in response to an earlier post, asking if it had to be pushed to the extreme to encounter this overheating issue.

This is not misinformation. The phone CAN, and for a lot people DOES overheat and stop charging with GPS use, internet use, or just regular-old phone use.

Not bashing the phone, or inserting my personal opinion--I'd have some nasty words for many aspects of the phone... Just answering the previous question.

You should pay attention to the post I was addressing, in the post you quoted. Your crusade is wearing thin.
