Re: Is it true HTC devices dont charge as fast when using non-oem chargers?
I am guessing it is the output rate for the different chargers.

Certain pins need to be grounded for it see whatever's plugged in as a charger and to actually charge at 1A. http://www.tracyandmatt.co.uk/blogs/...tor_pin_config
There's a hack in nueROM-S 184 and up to bypass that, but you have to be careful not to blow out your USB charger/port when doing it. http://www.nuerom.com/BlogEngine/pos...ond_C-171.aspx Last edited by Firon; 11-16-2008 at 05:07 AM. |

Re: Is it true HTC devices dont charge as fast when using non-oem chargers?
Yes, my phone charges very slow whenever I try to use my friends' blackberry and motorola chargers. It also charges slow when I use USB wires too. I think its just the different output rates for the different charges. I know for a fact that my friend's motorola can't charge with my charger because it says 'incompatible charger' or something of that sort.

Will 6700 or 6800 chargers work on the TP? They didn't change anything radical? (I wouldn't think so)
I always used the USB port to charge my 6700 so I never noticed! |

Re: Is it true HTC devices dont charge as fast when using non-oem chargers?
I actually misplaced/lost my 6800 charger and now use my 6700 charger for my mogul. I figured since the 6700 charger looked exactly the same and had the same specs it would work similarly, and in fact they do. When I had both I used to just switch off between the two all the time and didn't notice a change in charge times.

Re: Is it true HTC devices dont charge as fast when using non-oem chargers?
The 6700/6800 chargers work fine for full speed charging. I used my Mogul's charger before I sold it to someone.
If you know your charger can deliver more than 500mA but the phone won't charge faster since it's not extUSB, install nueROM-S (or cook your own ROM with his battery driver), then enable FastCharge. :P deviant.ones, install nuePower and look at the charge amps. It'll almost certainly be ~500mA. |

Re: Is it true HTC devices dont charge as fast when using non-oem chargers?
The OEM Touch Pro charger (for the home) has an output of 5 volts and 1 amp. You need to look at the other charger and verify that the other device has an output of 5 volts or you will trash your device. In order for it to charge in a reasonable time frame you would like it to produce at least 1 amp, more is okay, as long as you do not exceed the 5 volt rating. If it only produces less than 1 amp your charging time will be longer.
