Go to settings > Sound > Notifications and you can set the options for everything. Seems to work for me.

I'm confused... why isn't the lock function the solution you're looking for? A new SMS will wake up the screen but with it locked your pocket wont press anything. Also the screen goes back on standby quite quickly when locked. Only an incoming call automatically unlocks the screen.

it's nice to keep the screen asleep when the message comes through for battery life as this devices' battery life isn't the greatest overall and just for privacy.

tsousan: unfortunately, those options do not allow you to deactivate the wake up.

ott: I get ya, I never thought of how much juice it might consume to have the screen wake up momentarily each time I receive a text. I receive quite a few and it may make that little bit of difference to get me through the day (which now I cannot).

ya i'll keep looking around to see if anyone else has figured it out cuz i need to save as much power as possible as i use my phone alot throughout the day and by the time i get home its almost dead... :(

Crap!!! I could has sworn this would have fixed it... Good news (maybe) is that I disabled TF3D and it still wakes up. So maybe there is a reg setting.

I was happy with my regular locking solution until I got on this thread.... damnit.
