Unfortunately this will NOT fix your problem. My phone was fine since Oct 31st when I got it. Phone crashed twice last Saturday, and once Sunday. I read on the forums to try unchecking the Today timeout and just this morning I slept in late because my ****ing phone was locked up (I use my phone as my alarm as well). Being one of two IT people in our company, that is a bug no no to be late for work. Luckily nothing blew up.

To say the least I am pissed. Not sure what else to do, but I promise you that unchecking the Today timeout won't fix your issue.

Oh and I have done 0 regedits.

Re: TP Locking Up Overnight

I have not had this happen on mine, however my wife's tp (completely stock, no apps added, no reg edits) just locked up for the first time while charging last night. This morning it was fully charged, but wouldn't turn on and still in the light ring "charging" mode...

My guess would be something to do with the crap sprint has running in the background. For instance pocket express (at least on her phone) which updates automatically even if you tell it NOT to...

this commonly happens from the today timeout make sure you uncheck that box under settings > today ? items

Happened to me once i think a few days ago, but i didn't think much of it. Hasn't happened since though.

In my case, my Treo 700Wx that i replaced the T.P with still serves as a backup alarm :) just in case (matter of fact, it's been on standby since Oct 26....2400mAh battery..wow), so every morning i have 2 phones going off making sure i wake up..haha.

The one guy in here says it won't fix the problem but many have reported that it does. After unchecking the box I haven't had the problem this week.

You obviously don't read the other posts in this thread. It is NOT from the Today Timeout!

If you think that will fix your problem, I hope your TP locks up on a day you don't have something going on -- it will lock up. It's only a matter of time :(

I think it's related to charging/battery heating up... :(

Never really had a lockup while the phone wasn't charging!

I'm having similar issues, but my battery is also dead in the morning. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...&postcount=312
What exactly does the today timeout do?

Looking around at other forums - I may have found a fix. It's worth trying at least!

Disable turn off with external power (since it only crashes while charging).

Go to Start - Settings - System - Power - Advanced and Uncheck "Turn off device if not used for... under "On external power".

Worth a shot.. I just did it and will post if I have any problems.

DUH!

I just realized... this was the same thing you had to do with the Apache to keep it from locking up!

Id be willing to bet money this along with the today timeout thing fixes the issue....

The old setting was to just have the backlight turn off and to keep the power on.
