Arrow HTC Dream (G1) vs HTC Touch Pro build quality?

Anyone notice that the HTC Dream aka Tmobile G1 is built a bit more solidly than the TP? The screen is less mushy, the keyboard slide up mech feels solid.. I also noticed this way back with the Wing, compared to a Mogul.. Why is that? Carrier demanding higher standards?

P.S. Remember they are both HTC devices and have almost the same technical specs.

Re: HTC Dream (G1) vs HTC Touch Pro build quality?

Actually, I have compared both phones. The G1 reminded me of the Apache and an older far too basic looking device. I am very happy with the way the pro was designed, phsyically, athstetically and everything.

Don't get me wrong, I love my TP. But it's interesting how differently the devices are built and in quality considering they come from the same manufacturer.

Mustangs and Pintos were both built by the same manufacturer.

With the same/similar specs? I get what you're saying.. More like a Ford Mustang various models; GT vs a Ford Cobra, I guess..

Re: HTC Dream (G1) vs HTC Touch Pro build quality?

I guess the point is that they were probably designed by different people within the company. The specs that are similar have nothing to do with build quality. You can put a mustang engine in a pinto, and it would just be a faster POS.

Re: HTC Dream (G1) vs HTC Touch Pro build quality?

Ya the G1 has a awesome keyboard mechanism. The G1's screen is capacitive too vs the TP's resistive so it is capable of multi touch. (no software supports it yet as far as i know). But over all the TP is sharper looking. and is much more powerful IMO.
