ok i saw this over at xda-developers thought id bring the idea over here maybe we can make an app to be able to weigh out grams on our screen. how nice and convenient would that be. this app could be very simple i hope. ill pay if its developed

haha who knows? maybe something sticky, maybe to weigh out meds infront of a pharmacist....who knows it makes great use of features of the phone though, u could weigh out grams of gold if you wanted to lol :-P

no not necessarily.......all u have to do is place someting like paper on top and tare it out then weigh on top of it.....it should function just like a scale.....this app doesnt have to be used to illicit items it can weigh out lot of things use your imagination

My imagination is limited to illicit items lol i mean what other possible item would you weigh in grams? lol prescription drugs and gold would be weighed on much more sophisticated measurement tools that are professionally calibrated. that leaves illicit drugs as the only thing left to really weigh lol

well when u tap on a scale it can jump ounces.....so maybe this scale can weigh out in heavier terms? who knows the idea is still cool its a more useful app than the business card scanner cmon now lol

This program would be awesome, just for the cooL factor.

I read about an iPhone scale a couple of days back. It takes advantage of the accelerometer to determine the weights, so we could even go that route. This way would have a lot less cooL factor, though.

Yes it is you can adjust how sensitive the screen is. For a program like this they would just set the screen to be VERY sensitive while it's in that program.

but the surface area is too big. i would think you would need some sort of tray to get this to be reliable.

Either way, i would rather have a $20 digital scale that i can spill what ever i want on and not feel bad...

Yeah i agree with you but a good scale costs more than $20 and even still i wouldn't want to spill anything on it. I need the accuracy lol every gram counts

No way will any cop know that much and if they do they prolly dont care lol. anyways if u get caught with 1/8 and ur phone its just posession instead of a felony

I love this idea... I'm not into the stuff you guys are talking about, but you're giving me ideas....


Regarding the placement, the app should have a box on the screen indicating where to put the center of the object. Then we could get more accurate readings.

I bet it takes at least 3-4g before it registers anything, also, the program will have a hard time judging between WEIGHT and surface area, because all our screens really detect is surface area.

You would need a tray that on the phone, with a "nub" that touched the screen. Something that is consitant. Then you can go based on the increase in surface area from there, and get a weight.

Sounds like too much work to me.

lol... yeah it wont work the sensor is nowhere near precise enough.... Would be super nice though my weed man would never catch me without a scale again ....

I'm not into the stuff, but my friends used to have tiny little scales that were smaller than a mini-cell phone. Seems easy enough to bring with you to ensure the product.
