just have the phone become silenced when the app is running and problem solved :P

one can hope for this right? lol

Be nice ot use the celly again though it will not work as its not pressure sensitive

there are simple registry changes that will increase the sensitivity of the screen. I dont exactly remember why we couldnt do this but in theory it doesnt seem like a hard app but for some reason noone has done it.

that's exactly what I thought.

And yes, I think an app such as this would rule.

Very interesting idea. I can't imagine that the screen's really sensitive enough for this, though...

Why not just have a trustworthy drug dealer?

Wait, I think that's an oxymoron...

Well lets run a scenario here....
I am going to my potpourri guy.... (A gentleman of my Noble Blood would never be involved in such buffoonery as the buying or selling of illicit drugs.... can you not tell my innocence from my user name)
I give my smelly flower vendor $20 which should entitle me to 1.7-1.8 grams of this delectable smelling cured herbal awesomeness.....
He hands me a bag and I go about my merry way to make my house smell good.
Now the theory is he pre weighed it before selling it to me...
Reality is however he is French and therefore cannot be trusted...
Upon arrival to my conveyance I whip out my phone and I notice that he gave me 1.5 Grams (Freaking cheese eating surrender monkey...)
I walk back to his abode and demand another lil chunk of potpourri in liu of an *** whoopin...
Now should I get pulled over on the way home with a scale I would serve time for Intent to deliver by posessing a scale... (Cops just do not understand the need to weigh potpourri) however with my phone I can weigh on the spot without paraphenalia and without going home to weigh it and having to waste gas driving all the way acrossed town....

Savvy?

If it'll weigh my suitcase on a return trip home, I'd be game for donating to the project. :)

Someone will have to do Physics calculations to see how much weight a Diamond can withstand before it cracks. Maybe a pound or two as I am a baker and have to weigh flour for my Christmas fruit cakes.

For this scale to be "accurate," you would have to be weighing things in the pounds, not ounces. It takes quite a bit of pressure to push the screen.

You would most likely need some sort of balancing setup, where you had a set weight on one side, and it had a peg of some kind that pushed on the screen. The more weight you put on the other side of the balancer, the less pressure the screen would see... This wouldn't work very well either, but just putting stuff directly on the screen would never work.

I did just think of another way to do it, while I was typing this.

The way a resistive touchscreen works, allows it to see how much surface area is making contact. So if you built some sort of tray, that was SLIGHTLY curved in the middle, so that when you pushed harder, it made more contact with the screen, with an outward motion, (think--soap dish, or boat bottom,) then theoretically, you'd have a way to see more pressure/weight.

Either way, it's totally impractical and a waste of anyone's time to make it, since if you have this tray device, you might as well just have a scale.

If you are looking for a better way to measure dope, while being under the radar, then it seems that your best bet would be to conceal a scale better... why not take a bigger phone like a 6600, or 6700, and rip out all the internals, and put a scale inside, and then make the screen the scale surface... no one would ever notice you had a scale. Plus, the recessed screen would allow for your stuff to not fall of as easily.

Or you could do it with a Touch. The scales I have seen are very small, and could easily be stuffed inside a Touch chassis. No one would ever pick up a Touch, and say, "Hey, I bet that's really a scale..."

other than doing something like this, you are out of practical/executable ideas...

digi scales are so cheap these days, measuring your weed isnt that hard anymore. although, when a pothead generally gets 20 bucks, he spends it on another gram of pot, not a scale LOL

You guys are taking wrong approach to this......

The iPhone can be used for a scale using the....."G-sensor"

We have that too! Lets port that app to the pro/diamond/all G sensor WM devices!

Heres what I am talking about and it works Great on my iPhone

http://www.iPhoneScale.com/

and youtube video of it in action:

Any takers?

How about this; move to California, become a medical MJ patient, go to a dispensary and be worry free about being skimped. JK to those who don't live in California, I'm not trying to rag on the 420heads on this site. I sure am blessed to live in SoCal though! =D

im not even reading all these posts.. someone obviously a drug dealer who brought this up.. i did it for ten yrs... only 2 things you weigh in grams.. trees and powder... only an idiot would wanna put powder near his phone, cuz itll be in the screen in no time.. for tress, its not even functional unless your a low level smoker, makin out a few sacks so u smoke for free..

but sure it can be done... havent you guys seen the seismo app? turn it on and tap the table next to it and it registers on screen like a seisometer does for earthquakes.. kinda neat..

im sure this can be done though..

heres that seismo app if you guys havent heard of it and wanna play around with it... you do need net 3.5 btw

that is freakin awesome!!! i had no idea this existed. i don't think this would be adaptable to a scale since this is using th gmeter but still.... amazing
