I did the exact same thing when I got the phone. What I would do is:
1 - Turn off phone (remove battery and charger) - leave off for at least 1 minute
2 - Reinsert battery and turn phone on (do not insert charger)
3 - Check current battery level in Settings -> System -> Battery...
3a - If the bar is full, then it might be in the 90s, so it will probably finish charging shortly
3b - If the bar is NOT in the 90s (the last bar is incomplete), plug it back into the charger and it might still take some time (30+ min to finish, though usually less)

If 3a - then just wait until the LED ring is sold. If it's doesn't turn solid still, you might have a problem
If 3b - check the battery level until all bars are full and then wait until the LED ring is solid. If it's doesn't turn solid, you might have a problem.

You can also try installing the 1% battery increment cab file to get a little better idea of what you're battery is at, but it's not accurate in the last 10% (90-100), however, it will give you an idea, especially if you're at 100%.

To get that, visit here: nuePower and download the "nuePowerDriver for CDMA Diamond"
If you want more information about your battery draw and whatnot, you can also download and install the "nuePowerCPL" (from the same page - use the CAB file).
