Re: Fastmail IMAP setup
I didn't know Gmail has Imap now. But they don't really have a folder system. How is fastmail going to get people to spend $40 per year when people are giving IMAP away free. And the fastmail online interface and settings are about 5 years since the last update.

Re: Fastmail IMAP setup
You have to enable IMAP in setting with Gmail...also Gmail will now get mail from other email account...so that you only need Gmail for all email activities.

Re: Fastmail IMAP setup
I may need to try Gmail but I here it is extremely slow compared to fastmail and I get a ton of email so this could be an issue.

Anyway, to set it up with imap...when you're first setting up your account, misspell your email address (example: you@fastmal.com). Misspell fastmail. The email client wont force you to autosetup...allowing you to chose imap and input server settings automatically. Then, when setup is complete, go back and edit the email address and make it correct.

Another vote for gmail
I have a paid fastmail account, but I recently switched over to Gmail's imap.
You won't regret it. Gmail is fast, free, and currently has about 8 gig of free storage. While Gmail doesn't have folders, it has labels, which are similar to folders. Also, gmail's web client has tons of new features which integrate into various browsers. I have a yahoo account also, but hardly ever use it because Gmail is vastly superior to both Yahoo and fastmail. |

Re: Another vote for gmail
The problem is that WinMo won't treat the labels as folders. Also, even though Gmail has IMAP, you won't be able to use push mailwith it. You will have to use a 3rd party app to use push mail. I sure hope Gmail changes that some day.

Re: Fastmail IMAP setup
I never liked fastmail's clunky old school interface but there are a ton of Fastmail zealots out there that wouldn't use anything else. Anyway, I set up a second clean Gmail account to forward all my email accounts to then will us IMAP to hit it wih my phone.
