Auto activation quick question

Are people activating the phone using the website BEFORE actually powering on the device for the first time, which lets the phone activate itself? If you turn it on once, will it auto activate whenever you switch it online?

Re: Auto activation quick question

You have to either activate it online or by calling sprint to activate. Normally phones dont come already activated or auto activate. Unless that has changed.

I get that part, but it seems that you don't have to type anything in the phone anymore and that it does it on it's own. Is that true?

When I got my diamond I went to sprint.com, signed on to my account and activated the phone online. I then turned the phone on and I was good to go.

Re: Auto activation quick question

the touch pro and diamond have an Over the air internet activation on the stock rom. you have to activate the phone first on your account (call and swap the ESN) and then power on the phone. it will connect to the net, realize it is not programmed via IOTA and it will program itself. to my knowledge this will only work the first time the phone is turned on. i turned mine on before i called to activate it so i cant confirm, but i know my diamond activated and programmed itself.
