Re: Bellsouth.net POP3 Problem
I've had this problem since I've become a sprint customer. I can receive e-mail but can't send any. The answer I've found is that Sprint doesn't let you send e-mail from a non-sprint address using their pop servers. Basically, you can only send e-mail from the phone if you are using your Sprint e-mail address...
I'm sure there are solutions but I sure haven't found them yet cause I'd love to send e-mail from my regular e-mail address through my device. |

Re: Bellsouth.net POP3 Problem
You just need access to an SMTP server. For example, the SMTP server I run at work has no authentication requirement for local users (on the network) but requires a username and password for users that are on other networks. So I setup my POP3 accounts on my Touch Pro and each of them uses my company SMTP server via authentication.

Re: Bellsouth.net POP3 Problem
As far as I know, Sprint does not provide their own SMTP service. Additionally, no one (ATT) is going to let you send through their SMTP server without authentication. You need to find out if they offer that, SMTP from outside networks via authentication. If so, you should be fine using that. If not, you'll need to find an SMTP server/service you can use (it doesn't need to be tied in any way to the POP3 account).

Re: Bellsouth.net POP3 Problem
There isn't anything tricky as far as the configuration goes, when you setup your account it has boxes for all the SMTP stuff (server, username, etc etc). I am not familiar with POWWEB, you'd need to find out from them (or by testing) if they allow SMTP to remote users via authentication.
