I have the same problem with the opera browser 'glitch' on my Sprint touch pro, using stock rom. My phone is about a month old with manufacture date of February 2009.

Give Opera miniV8 a try. You can install it in the main memory or SD card. It is superfast and better graphics than Opera mobile. Just install cab and that is all...no more worries about zoom issues.
