My Tp Is Slower Then Any Phone - Page 4

I came from the treo 800w and noticed it is a good deal faster than my new TP. It bothered me at first, but after turning the 800w back on and seeing the screen, there was no way I could go back. I was also frustrated without the front keyboard, but I got used to the on screen keyboard quick.

All that mumbo jumbo about palm and speedy winmo devices were true I guess. Maybe custom roms will help, maybe not. Does anyone know exactly what plm does to their winmo phones that make them so snappy?

After I read it I opened up SKTools and tried it out...the only thing is that I already have advanced config, tf3d config and diamond tweak with some settings on there...when I went to set SKTools to the performance optimization setting, it was already checked off, so my guess is that the settings I chose between the other three programs were the same thing that SKTools would have done anyways...

yea if its checked off that means that it isnt optimized yet... you need to click optimize now and it'll have you restart it and let me know if it works

I'm talking about when i hit optimize at the beginning and then click on action...the check mark is already on performance...but I did hit optimize and don't notice much of a difference if any

Ha yea I know. You go to optimize then hit action, make sure performance is checked off then click optimize. I didn't try it because I dont think my phone has a performance issue. Is yours running slow like other people are reporting?

The general gist of this thread is that the Treo 800w is faster if anything, but definitely not slower, and that once again, the front-facing keyboard is undervalued.

Unfortunately, my treo 800w misses phone calls, which is an even greater sin. That's why I've been monitoring these forums, but it looks like I strike out again with the Touch Pro. I am not going to go for a slower phone, and I'm not sold on the non-frontfacing keyboard yet.

Hmmm.. No I think the "general gist" of the thread is that the OP's Touch Pro is slow and he never mentioned the 800w speed. I think its something that has to do with your phone a lot of people mentioned hard resetting it a couple times. Mine runs fast and I dont notice any lag. My screen switches when I open my keyboard in 1 second the most with TF3d running, so it must be somthing with your phone.

I have never used a Treo before, so I can't really make a comparison. The only thing that I have found slow on the Touch Pro is the contact list and the phone dialer. Other than that, everything else seems to be really snappy. It should get better with custom ROMs. What you should try to do is go to a Sprint store and compare your phone with a demo model, to see if there is a speed difference. If you find a speed difference, exchange the phone for another unit.

I can tell you the Treo800 is faster only when TouchFlo3D is enabled. Otherwise..speedwise the HTC if faster. I've just tested it.

If the a non Front Keboard is going to concern you, then stick with your 800w. Get it exchanged. I use to miss calls too with the first batch of 800's. I still think I've missed some calls, not sure because the Treo is in my pocket and noticed I only missed calls when driving. Palm's keyboard and one hand operations for a winmo device is simply the best. I can pull up a contact and dial them faster I can on a HTC by a mile.
