My TP battery/charge issue

I tried searching for info on this, but all I could find was battery life stuff.

Anyway, my wife took her touch pro off the charger(wall) this morning and the phone was very warm. She turned it on on it said it was dead. All night and no charge. The first thing I thought was that something on it was running. Yet, I saw it last night and nothing was. I make sure she closes out everything.

On a simi related note. when we first got the phone, it would make a data connection on its own once in a while. I thouoght it was because she was then leaving all programs running, not totally closing them out.

Thanks for any insight.

same thing happened to me.

now my battery charges fine but it drains it like crazy. i powered it on at 8AM full charge (closed it entirely overnight), now it is 10AM and it is 30% gone.

WTF?

Re: My TP battery/charge issue

This is going to be one of the major issues with this device - which at this point I doubt any software change will fix. The battery gets too hot too fast and trips the thermal protection IN the battery, thereby causing charging to cease. Try leaving it plugged in on a long phone call... it will die. Streaming music/video etc... it will die. WmWiFiRouter - not a chance. Do any of the above with the back cover off and cold air blowing on the battery and it will go forever.

This seems like a major blunder on behalf of HTC. Its bad when I cant even rely on outlet power to use my phone the way it was intended to be used...

I got my TP at the same time as my wife's. Not a problem at all. always cool, always charges. I do a lot more on mine and no problems. Could it be that after last weeks last minutes updates/fixes(?) that some slipped thru the cracks?

Re: My TP battery/charge issue

Try a hard reset. Supposedly that helps.

Re: My TP battery/charge issue

4 hours after removing from the charger I have no bars left on my battery. It's been on my waist all day and I just took it out and it felt warm. Before I turned the screen on I knew something was wrong- it was hot as if I was just using it heavily for an hour. Somethings killing the battery but I have no idea what

Re: My TP battery/charge issue

I can't think of anything else other than something using the data connection.

Weather from manila, or.....instant messaging?

I can say, at first, my wife's phone was having issues close to this. she was leaving programs running in the background. We kept finding the data connection on once in a while. She had never turned off weather auto update and the pocket express app was auto updating. now with everything I can think of set to update manually, and her completely closing all app's, we have not noticed the data connection popping back on.

All we have is the funny thing mentioned my first post about the phone not charging.

Re: My TP battery/charge issue

Well, my data is always on because I use EAS (mail2web push mail) so I can't diagnose any of that, but I never use Express and close all of the apps I use except for outlook
