Sprint Picturemail doesn't like .net 3.5!
I was having issues with my Sprint Picture mail. Stuff would stay in my outbox and would always go to a "pending" status. Any picmail that was sent to my phne would be ignored eventhough it showed up on my online album. I had a diamond, and everything worked perfectly; my picmail would correctly send/receive.
It turns out that if i tried using picture mail AFTER a hard reset, it would work correctly. I figured it was some software conflict and installed software one by one until I narrowed it down to dotnet3.5 compact framework. I tried using the installer from the windows website and a cab file floating around xda. So I'm not sure what to do because I want to have my picturemail working, but I also want all my apps that need .net 3.5 to work also. Also, picture mail worked fine WITh .net 3.5 installed when I had my sprint diamond. I was using Juicy's ROM at the time. I guess there's some sort of software conflict with the stock rom. |
Re: Sprint Picturemail doesn't like .net 3.5!
Did you install the PictureMail update?
|
Re: Sprint Picturemail doesn't like .net 3.5!
yes, the picturemail update was installed straight after the hard reset.
@ turbofool: is picturemail working fine for you with .net 3.5? i will be testing this on another touch pro later tonight to confirm its not just my touch pro. |
Re: Sprint Picturemail doesn't like .net 3.5!
doing a test now....
|
Re: Sprint Picturemail doesn't like .net 3.5!
Mine works. BUT there is a catch. If I have Wifi on, it won't send. Once I turn Wifi off, picturemail will send.
I've not tested this multiple times as I don't do alot of picture mail stuff, but thats what I've noticed. Yes I have .net 3.5 installed too. |
Re: Sprint Picturemail doesn't like .net 3.5!
I've got 3.5 installed as well with no issues (with the Pic Mail Update installed).
|
Re: Sprint Picturemail doesn't like .net 3.5!
I just sent myself a picture message and it received on my phone just fine....BTW i installed NETCF3.5 yesterday to run the new Advanced Config 3.3...
|
Re: Sprint Picturemail doesn't like .net 3.5!
thank you for the responses guys.
just to make sure everything is all set. if you highlight a msg in the picturemail app and hit the "options" softkey, you can select message details. Under status it should say "Sent". If it says "pending", then still isnt completed eventhough the msg may go through. Also, I assume you guys are receiving picture mail fine? you can use the sprint picture mail website to test it out. |
Re: Sprint Picturemail doesn't like .net 3.5!
TY freeza, it sounds like this is a problem with my touch pro setup. ill try installing .net again and see if it works fine now.
|
Re: Sprint Picturemail doesn't like .net 3.5!
hmm, no dice yet. It's still pending. Ill get back to you guys when i cna tets it out on another touch pro, just so i know im not going crazy.

Re: Sprint Picturemail doesn't like .net 3.5!
May be a little off topic here, but I think .net 3.5 installation affected my GPS. After installing .net 3.5 my GPS would soft reset my phone after running for about 30 seconds. This happened three times in a row. I removed .net 3.5 and it started acting normal again. Has anyone else run into this?
|
Re: Sprint Picturemail doesn't like .net 3.5!
i just tried mine. it works - sort of. as i test, i sent it to myself and i can send it fine but it doesn't go into the sent folder. and i also can't delete the file. it's crazy.

On Topic My pic mail would act this way with or without .net3.5 installed. It drove me crazy for 3 days this week until it just started sending and receiving correctly. I spent an hour and a half on the phone with sprint with nothing working. So I don't know the fix but I do know mine is working now with .net 3.5 installed. also it seems like mine started working when I was in a very good signal area and has worked since may of been coincidence but strange behavior |
Re: Sprint Picturemail doesn't like .net 3.5!
mine works too....takes a few minutes but just sent da wifey a pic and she got it...also am running 3.5...takes a lil longer but none da less its working...well i tried again but seems like it takes 5 to 6 minutes before its actually sent...is this normal? it works but seems a lil sluggish...thought was a lil faster before i installed 3.5 but could be just me...

Re: Sprint Picturemail doesn't like .net 3.5!
Does anyone have the Framwork 3.5 install cab?
|
Re: Sprint Picturemail doesn't like .net 3.5!
Try the version of net in my sig.
That is, of course, if it isn't the same one you tried before! |
Re: Sprint Picturemail doesn't like .net 3.5!
i am having the same issue with picmail .... i also have NET 3.5 installed and picmail update ...
the picmail update states taht it ads audible sound for incomign message ,.. where do u set that.. i dont see in notifications/sounds... but that really doesnt matter since i cant send or recieve picture mail on my phone now ... grrr .. my messages show pending state |
Re: Sprint Picturemail doesn't like .net 3.5!
It's probably not the net 3.5.. Several of us Diamond users are having pic mail issues where our phones seem to wake up as if we are getting mail but nothing comes down..received picmail messages are in our inbox on the website though. Prior to Friday I had not had any issues and had made now changes to my phone .. same for my guy's TP.. Pic mail worked until Friday... both phones running almost identical software.
|
Re: Sprint Picturemail doesn't like .net 3.5!
Same problems here. Pic mail takes somewhere between a long time and just not going to get sent. Says pending for several minutes... sometimes a half hour or more.
My phone will wake up with seemingly no reason to, but then a few minutes later I'll get the notification for a pic mail. Also, I didn't receive one that a friend sent. I have been using SomeGuy SMMS like I was on my Mogul. It makes sending quicker and easier, cuz it works, but I would like the stock picmail program to do the job. I am assured my messages will send in a timely manner with SMMS, however it's still up to the Gods when it comes to receiving. |
Re: Sprint Picturemail doesn't like .net 3.5!
I have been having issue with Picturemail off an on for several days. called Sprint they reset my picmail and all was working again...for only the first fe picture both sent and received.
As stated in thisn thread I have had the same symptoms: 1) Picmail stays in inbox even after sent. I never have anything in my sent folder. 2) Picmail takes forever to send if it sends at all. In most cases I go look at the picmail site and the picture say I have a new picmail (one I just sent to myself.) But I never get in on my TP. I even have had friends send me pics that I never got on the phone but are on the picmail site. 3) Picmail seems to be "threaded"? Simmilar to that of threaded SMS messages. As already stated all mail seems to remain in the Inbox. If I get a picmail from somone other than me and send a replay picmail, they show up as somewhat threaded when you open the message. 4) Picmail seems to work like SNMP protocols... fire and forget. If for some reason that you do not get the notification OR the phone can not be found at the time there is not an other attempt to send the mesage once received in you picmail inbox. (On the picmail site) I know that some say they have .net 3.5 installed and things are working fine. BUT I thought so too and had both the picmail update AND .net 3.5 installed. All of the above symptoms listed above were with .net 3.5 installed. Once I removed the .net 3.5 most of the above symptoms went away except the threaded message thing. And I am not too sure if this is the way that the picmail is suppose to work. In addition, the picmail application send and receive was much quicker than having .net 3.5 installed. Now as with some of you I have applications that need .net 3.5 to run. But after I removed .net 3.5 and reinstalled it, all of the symptoms came back. So I think that the post the OP listed is pretty much correct. If Sprint designed picmail to a spec of .net that was in a lower revision of .net that is no longer in version 3.5 or a spec that has been revised, it is plausable to say the .net 3.5 vould be a contributor of some of the issues we are seeing. I understand that some of the Diamond users are not seeing these issues, but I still am not sure of that since I have no way of testing. So I am asking those of you to do your own testing that have .net 3.5 installed. See if things improve after the uninstall. If so, I will see if my buddy that works in the lab at Sprint can do his testing to see if we can get this fixed once and for all. |

Steps: 1. uninstall 3.5 and picturemail, soft reset. 2. go to epst ##3282# and edit/restore. soft reset. 3. Reinstall 3.5 I used the attached version. soft reset 4. Reinstall picmail update cab. soft reset 5. Start/settings/update profile. soft reset. Might be overkill on soft reset but it I wasn't about to mess with what works. Picmail working fine on both devices since Saturday. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/attachment...8&d=1228010207 |

+1 for picmail not working on TP...
|
Re: Sprint Picturemail doesn't like .net 3.5!
do the method posted above.. corrected my issue as well !
|
Re: Sprint Picturemail doesn't like .net 3.5!
I had started a thread a few days ago about the "lagginess" of Sprint picture(less) messaging...my thread was closed. But this needs to be discussed and the issue needs to be solved.
The TP is perfect for me....my only complaint is the lack of a perfectly functioning picture mail app. |

Re: Sprint Picturemail doesn't like .net 3.5!
Found a permanent REAL fix to everyones picture mail problem with the Touch Pro.
Spoke with Tier 2 or 3 tech support at Sprint who said that the size of the picture being sent was too big big to be received on other networks and even some other Sprint phones (makes sense). Before taking your picture that you want to send go into the options of the picture (looks like a gear wheel or something). Choose Advanced and then Resolution. I changed mine to Large (640X480) and the person I sent the picture to on Verizon received it within a few minutes. Hope this helps. |
Re: Sprint Picturemail doesn't like .net 3.5!
do you have Profiler installed...if so uninstall that, soft reset and it should work

************************************** just found it: go to programs: pictures and videos menu/tools/options: When sending pictures in email, pictures can be resized so that they transfer faster. use this picture size: large (640 x 480) picture mail is part of the email app on WM.... now make your resolution in the camera settings high again .. take the picture .... and try and send the picture to your same verizon friend... if he gets then u know the above option is correct ... if he didnt get then maybe the above is strictly for email and not picmail... let us know... thanks |
Re: Sprint Picturemail doesn't like .net 3.5!
Im having the same problem with pic mail not sending. I receive just fine but cannot send. I've got a pro. I've tried the net uninstall, pic mail uninstall, then reinstall but that did not work.

Re: Sprint Picturemail doesn't like .net 3.5!
Just wanted to add my name to the list of people who cannot send picture mail. For me, the pics I send do show up on the website but never make it to the other person's phone. Previously used sMMS on my old Mogul and it worked great. Frustrating to say the least, considering any $29.99 basic phone can do this without thinking.

Re: Sprint Picturemail doesn't like .net 3.5!
Ive got picture mail working but when I try to delete any of the messages in the inbox, the phone says this msg cannot be deleted. Anyone else having this issue or know a solution?
Edit: Figured out what I was doing wrong. For those that may be having the same issue you have to open the message to be able to delete it, cannot delete from just the inbox. |
Re: Sprint Picturemail doesn't like .net 3.5!
my pic mail will work on 1-2 pics after install then quit. if I uninstall, then reinstall it works again once or twice and thats it.
I just switched back to someguys smms software, and I'm good to go. |
Re: Sprint Picturemail doesn't like .net 3.5!
My TP starting acting up like you all mentioned after installed the update to net 3.5. Is there a way to downgrade to the stock version of NET without a hard reset (or does the uninstallation of 3.5 do that automatically?)
Also, for those of you experiencing this, does SMMS bypass the issues? Thanks, Matt! |
Re: Sprint Picturemail doesn't like .net 3.5!
I have noticed that the Sprint Picture Mail App will work for a period of time, then start having a long delay to send for about a week and so-on. I have just installed the Arcsoft MMS Sprint cab for sending my MMS and that has worked fine, and I still use the sprint App to receive, we have enough storage and memory on the TP, and it is a very quick fix. If anyone is still haing problems sending using the Sprint App give this a try.

[quote=eenieMINI;510833]I take it back... 3.5 did seem to mess things up. I have picmail working on the Diamond and the Pro now... Same fix for slightly different problems. (Pro wouldn't send or receive, diamond would send but not receive).
