Re: VGA HTC Home w/ Haptic Hardware!!!!!

ouch, u were harsh... i think he had a legit reason to wonder why people would drop tf3d. it has everything that htc home has, but it's nicer looking and has a little more to offer. u can see ur texts and preview emails right there, u can have more fav contacts, more programs on the launch tab, internet tab with ur bookmarks right there, ur pics...
sure it takes up more ram, but it doesn't cripple the phone or anything unless u have verizon's model. it's not like we're still running our mogul specs. there's plenty of ram to go around with the tp.
u may not be able to run ur plugins, but u can run secondtoday or install that other today screen switching program for that. big deal u have to take .2 seconds to switch screens to see ur appointments plugin. i could argue that u have to make just as many clicks to see ur e-mail/texts
htc home takes up about half ur screen anyway... i'd probably need second today for my plugins anyway if i was to use that exclusively.
he didn't insult u for using htc home, so what gives with ur insults. the op clearly took it personally when he shouldnt have. there are multiple interfaces, who cares which one works for others.. it doesn't mean theyre less productive or deserving of insults.
i have so much other crap running on my phone, including tf3d, and it's still running quickly. and i also have htc home running on my other phone (diamond). they're both good, just different. i'm not saying either are without faults, but u can be productive using BOTH setups.

if he wanted to, he could call u guys out for being stuck in the past and not wanting change. if u were "productive" with ur old phones, u can damn well be produtive with the tp and its great specs, even with tf3d enabled. it's not right to accuse people of being shallow and overcompensating... at least he's not being a jerk.

sorry, i'm not trying to start anything.. i'm just sitting here thinking come on! it's just a choice in UI! there's enough bashing around here. i've heard multiple times that people think xda members are nicer and they might just stop coming here (and i have to agree that people are quicker here to bash than on there)... so ur only contributing to less productivity on one of ur favorite sites. op u made this thread to help people out... why not explain why it's better and leave it at that, if he didn't insult you???

Re: VGA HTC Home w/ Haptic Hardware!!!!!

Guys, don't get the thread closed please.

I tried out the htchome2.cab last night, I wasn't a fan of the stretched QVGA either. I'll have to try out that other one with the haptic though.

Re: VGA HTC Home w/ Haptic Hardware!!!!!

i simply explained why people use HTC Home and made a simple suggestion as to a more fitting phone that could satisfy his needs.

I actually dont like TF3D. Its nice eye candy but awkward to use. HTC Home is simple and gets the job done.

Re: VGA HTC Home w/ Haptic Hardware!!!!!

I installed the htchome2 last night and messed around with it a bit. I was able to customize it with HHC just fine. The only big problem I had with it was that my weather database editor program that I use for the TouchFLO weather tab doesn't work with it. I ended up uninstalling htchome2 and going back to TouchFLO 3D.

Now I've got two problems:

The touch vibrate feature for hard button presses with htchome2 won't go away. I uninstalled it, and did a soft reset. I also uninstalled HHC. Any ideas?

The other problem is one of memory. Now when I check my task button, it says 46% with TouchFLO 3D. It used to say 36%! I've not changed anything else except adding and deleting htchome2 and HHC. Any ideas?

I noticed this, too. I think it changes a registry setting to enable this. I did a registry restore from a few days prior and it turned it back off. I can't understand why anyone would want haptic feedback on hard buttons. I thought the purpose of haptic feedback was to make a touch screen button feel like a hard button. I know when I press a hard button, because it moves when I press it. I don't need haptic feedback to tell me that.

Dang, I wish I would have done a backup of the registry. Anyone know what registry settings control this?

HHC has the ability to add custom cities to the HTC Home weather database, you could have just used that.

Yes it does, and honestly I didn't even try that. Never was able to get it to work with my original Touch for my city, so I figured it wouldn't work on the TP also, but I could have been wrong.

Still, I'm back to TouchFlo 3d and want to get rid of the vibrate on hard button press. I just did some text messaging and noticed that it also happens with with slide out keyboard press. UGH...

Does anyone know who the developer of the htchome2 is? If I could only find out what reg edits the cab did, and what they were originally, I could fix it.

Was it htchome2 or the PJC HTC Home? I tried the first one and I never got any vibration feedback. I'll take a look at the PJC one and see how to shut it off if that one has it.
