Re: Gmail IMAP Problem...Can't Send Emails
Same issue here... So redoing the account fixes it?

Re: Gmail IMAP Problem...Can't Send Emails
Mary,
I tried your solution, but I never get asked to put in one of those visual confirmation codes, no matter how many times I put in the wrong password. (I am trying your solution on Opera on my Touch Pro). I ended up deleting my gmail account from my touch pro and then re-installing it. So far I am able to send e-mails from my TP via gmail but I do not think it will last (in much the same way the registry hack only worked for one night). I did find a link that describes how to unlock your CAPTCHA (http://mail.google.com/support/bin/a...y?answer=14257) which basically is a way to re-enter your user id and password along with one of those codes from the distorted picture. I have not tried this yet, but I will probably end up trying it if my gmail fails to send again. Quote:

BINGO, that is the post I read that helped me. I cursed for about 2 hours as I had NOT mistyped my password on my Touch Pro, but for whatever reason, some funky password (probably NULL) was cached somewhere within the Google website. I have to do it from the machin where I have the problem, though. In this case, from the Touch Pro - from Opera or PIE. Somehow, Outlook and Google revert back to some cache or probably your IP address. Have to think about that.....Anyhow, appears Outlook and this CAPTCHA thing are related.... Anxious to see if this works for you. I had read the Tracy fix prior to trying this one out and it seemed to work.... For me, just deleting the account and re-adding didn't work. I had to do this in the process. Funky. And what a PITA.

Re: Gmail IMAP Problem...Can't Send Emails
just happened to me for the first time that i can remember on this phone. soft reset, nothing, entering in password over the other - nothing. entering in screwy password, then re-entering correct password. money.

Re: Gmail IMAP Problem...Can't Send Emails
I didn't see it mentioned here, there's an official MS fix. This seems to have worked for me so far.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...playlang=en&tm I installed this (probably should make sure Outlook isn't running on you phone). After a soft reset, my existing Gmail account started working again (that was getting the send error). Note though that an old email in my Outbox could still not be sent, but new messages seem to work (so far). |

Re: Gmail IMAP Problem...Can't Send Emails
I use Imap with Outlook on my computer, but for the TP, I use POP3 with Outlook. I was understood that the smtp settings must go through Verizon's network. Is this true with Imap as well?

Re: Gmail IMAP Problem...Can't Send Emails
Oh now this is interesting. I'm not sure I really had this problem at all. It appears there is a length limit for an email. I had it fail again today and nothing I did would get it to send this one particular message UNTIL I deleted all the extra replies off the bottom of the email, then it sent with no problems.
I got the same exact error message though. Frickin' MS! ![]() |
