Sprint Touch Pro - Sprint Titan project?
I'm sorry if this has been posted but I'm curious what this is? This an icon on the Touch Pro that links up a page that has some cabs for something called Titan. Here's the 1st paragraph:
Titan is a next generation Java platform for Sprint Windows Mobile devices. In addition to supporting existing MIDP Java ME applications, it includes the more capable CDC/Foundation Java Virtual Machine and OSGi framework. This combination provides a powerful platform for dynamic distribution and collaboration of independent software components and applications. Support for the Eclipse embedded Rich Client (eRCP) application model means this platform can run generically written rich GUI applications that can run across a broad range of devices and desktop computers. The platform also includes APIs to give you access to Sprint specific phone features. The Titan tools, which install into the Eclipse IDE, provide best of the breed development and source level debug capabilities for the platform. 3rd party tools are available providing advanced visual development and profiling functionality. I installed the cabs, but I don't have anything to test with http://developer.sprint.com/site/glo...ty:SprintTitan Last edited by steb0ne; 10-27-2008 at 05:25 PM. |

Re: Sprint Touch Pro - Sprint Titan project?
Its a test version of Java for the Touch Pro and Diamond as well I believe. Hopefully they will be releasing a final version soon.

Re: Sprint Touch Pro - Sprint Titan project?
Wait, does that mean the Diamond and Pro don't have Java? As in Jbed, etc?

Re: Sprint Touch Pro - Sprint Titan project?
I just installed the Sprint Titan Runtime application and Sprint Titan Device tools to my Touch Pro. You won't see any changes in the programs menu. You will have to install a Java application such as Gmail and/or Opera Mobile. I have currently installed Gmail and it works sort of like it used to work under the JBED Java application. You will be able to launch GMAIL from the Programs Menu under the icons for 'Other Content' and 'Sprint Content Manager'
The TitanPro application seems to run in the background and utilize on-going program memory, so it should affect device performance a little bit. The links to CABs for the Sprint Titan Runtime application and Sprint Titan Device tools can be found here: http://developer.sprint.com/site/glo...rint_titan.jsp |

Re: Sprint Touch Pro - Sprint Titan project?
Ok. Seriously... necro-bumping TWO long dead threads to ask the same question in both is highly unnecessary and is a good way to get on the Mods' bad side right off the bat. To answer your question, though (since you obviously searched somewhat), you should be able to install an alternative Java platform. Most of the custom ROMs available use JBED, and I believe there is a CAB for it floating around somewhere. As far as removing Sprint Titan, you should be able to remove it just like any other program, from Start->Settings->System->Remove Programs.
