Mine initually didn't have the raised keyboard but it's starting to raise noticably. Wonder what would cause that....

the new phone has a manf date of 11/17/2008. It is near perfect. no gap, no raised keys. only thing i've noticed is the stiff spacebar and enter key but that is fine.

You can get it exchanged as many times as you want at Best Buy, (until the manager decides not to, anymore.) At Sprint, you are allowed 3 exchanges over the phone, and after that, you have to go into the store and get an "okay" from the techs before a new one is ordered. I've had 6 unacceptable units so far.

Thats not a valid answer thats a cop-out, which seems to be becoming the norm around here (to simply deal with it or return it if you dont like it) instead of holding HTC accountable for their crappy QC. The 800w is also greatly inferior in many ways and not even in the same class of device.

Theres no reason anyone should expect not to get a decent halfway working device.

I had two that started out fine, and within a few days, the d-pad started to fall off. It started out by "popping," when you pushed the key--as if there was a weird pressure/balancing underneath. Eventually it started coming up and I could see underneath. I had two that did this, and two that came raised in the first place. My last one did not have any physical problems--only internal issues, and screen issues.
