I think they are mistaken by the half/full mesh terms...

The earpiece speaker has three horizontal sections in the mesh. The two outer 1/3 sections have more holes in the mesh. the center 1/3 of the mesh has less holes. The left-most 1/3 section of the speaker/mesh is covered by the ambient light sensor.

So these "1/2 mesh" claims make no sense to me. I will post a detailed photo later if I get a chance.

dates seem to have no correlation to bad earpieces or not. my first was 10/15 and had good earpiece but raised dpad. Second this morning was 10/13 with raised dpad AND bad earpiece, third this afternoon had good dpad (flush) and good earpiece and 10/15 again.

There seems to be no correlation its luck of the draw.
