voice command not announcing incoming calls
Voice command is not announcing incoming calls, but everything else seems to be working. Anyone else tried voice command?
My wifes diamond has no problem with voice command. |
Re: voice command not announcing incoming calls
If it's Microsoft Voice Command make sure to enable that option in the settings.
|
Re: voice command not announcing incoming calls
all options are enabled cant figure out y it isnt working, does your phone announce incoming calls
|
Re: voice command not announcing incoming calls
sorry i don't have the touch pro yet but here are some other troubleshooting tips:
1. Make sure master volume isn't set to mute 2. Check to see that incoming calls can be announced at any time and not just "free times" 3. Try disabling the ringtone because it could potentially be drowning out the voice command voice hope that helps |
Re: voice command not announcing incoming calls
tried all but #3
|
Re: voice command not announcing incoming calls
now i have tried everything still no luck
|
Re: voice command not announcing incoming calls
Hmm. Disable the option for announce incoming calls, soft reset, then enable it, soft reset. Although that tip is probably stretching I have a feeling it could be the sol'n.

Re: voice command not announcing incoming calls
Yeah, I just noticed the same thing. Hadn't realized until you brought it up. I'll try the fix.
EDIT: No, I'm not trying those. Those are from a drastically older version of voice command. |
Re: voice command not announcing incoming calls
my friend does not announce either
|
Re: voice command not announcing incoming calls
Mine doesn't work either. I'm hoping there will be a fix for it soon.

Re: voice command not announcing incoming calls
Not working on my TP either!
|
Re: voice command not announcing incoming calls
Works perfect on my diamond, and all phases of VC work on my pro. However i get the same thing when announcing calls on my Pro, a lowered ringtone but no voice. Someone want to tell me if there is a reg entry i can compare ( i have memaid on both).
edit: checked HKLM/SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT/VOICECOMMAND. All settings are exactly the same. Maybe something under ringer? |
Re: voice command not announcing incoming calls
has anyone tried replacing the voice command files onthe pro with the files from the diamond?

Re: voice command not announcing incoming calls
Tried replacing VoiceCommand with older version that works on the Mogul - and that doesn't fix this problem.
When an incoming call is received, MSVC creates a .wav file in \Application Data\Volatile called TTSCallerID.wav. At least on my TP, this file is being created when each call is received - and when the .wav file is played through Windows Media Player, it has the correct announcement for the incoming call. The problem may not be with MSVC but with how the TP phone is handling the ring. Using a Registry Editor, I forced the ringtone by setting \\HKCU\ControlPanel\Sound\RingTone0\Sound to the \Application Data\Volatile\TTSCallerID.wav. When the next call comes in, then there isn't any ringtone - just the called ID announcement. Unfortunately, manually changing this creates some side-effects... It breaks the toggle between Vibrate mode and Ringer set by using the "Quick" menu (long hold END key). Vibrate turns on, but restoring to Ringer doesn't work. And, when the phone ringer screen is entered, the above override is removed and replaced with a ring tone. I've compared the registry settings with my Mogul - which was working properly for incoming call announcements - and everything seems to match. I also did a hard reset of the phone, and tried doing incoming call announcements immediately after the hard reset - and on my phone - I can not get the incoming call announcements to work - even without any additional applications or settings installed. Seems like the hard part is working - getting the caller ID announcement generated - the failure is in getting the generated .wav file played as the ringtone. |
Re: voice command not announcing incoming calls
good work
|
Re: voice command not announcing incoming calls
i miss mine not saying "say a command" and the moguls was better same as the tilts
|
Re: voice command not announcing incoming calls
^^^^^^lol....
thats funny. do you want it to call you "master" too? |
Re: voice command not announcing incoming calls
well if she had a more sexy voice it could be "yes master, what is your wish?"
|
Re: voice command not announcing incoming calls
i think probably a major problem with installing another ver of voice command is that there is already a voice command on the tp with the files associated with this ver being system and read only. as the result, you cant completely uninstall the built in ver.
when i tried to install another ver, i got an error at the end of the installation probably because of this. anyone have any comment on this?? |
Re: voice command not announcing incoming calls
Incoming call announcement worked for me once. I've tried to replicate it since then but haven't been able to. What happened was my phone was receiving an SMS while there was also an incoming call. It was weird.
|
Re: voice command not announcing incoming calls
yeah i receievd a sms from the sprint website about my pic mail password. i had the site send it to me via sms.. low and behold, the announce lady spoke every word of my sms message right down to my password! scared the #$(#) out of me as i was not expecting that.. but thaat worked.... phone was not ringing though.. lol

Re: voice command not announcing incoming calls

Re: voice command not announcing incoming calls
there got to be a way to get this worked somehow... this might really be how we can get voice command to work
|
Re: voice command not announcing incoming calls
I'm having the same problem. I've tried tweaking every setting in the voice command options without any luck. I'd really like this to work. Currently my only choice is to answer the call blindly or take out my phone and look at it to see who's calling. Not exactly optimal use of a headset...

Re: voice command not announcing incoming calls
I'm having the exactly same issue... I emailed HTC.com today about it.
I hope their customer support will be better than Palm. |
Re: voice command not announcing incoming calls
The problem with the call announcement on the TP doesn't appear to be with Voice Command, but possibly with the phone software on the TP - since Voice Command is generating the announcement file - it's just not being played.
The following registry changes might partially restore the call announcement, a short-term solution until something better comes along: HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\TTSAnnounce\Category: change VoiceCommand1 to Ring HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\TTSAnnounce\Script: change as5p to v0p (for vibrate and ring) or p (for ring only) With this change, the ringtone will start - and then be interrupted with the calller ID/name announcement. (Assuming that call announcement has been enabled in Voice Command). Only major flaw with this solution is that the announcement volume is low. |
