Re: voice command not announcing incoming calls

Heres and update via Email I got from HTC yesterday, thought I would share:

Hello Mike,

Thank you for your inquiry about the Voice Command feature on your Touch Pro.

I understand how important it is that voice command announce incoming calls. I have been seeing this issue with other customers using the Sprint Touch Pro. Currently, we are looking into a resolution for this issue. Any software fix for this issue will be hosted on our support page.

I can add your device to our ongoing investigation if you would like. In order for me to do that, I will need your device's serial number and ESN (beginning with "A").

Mike, I hope we have answered your question in detail. Feel free to contact us again if you have any further questions.

I have verizon service (I dumped sprint because their service sucked). I bought the sprint version of the touch pro however (because sprint definitely has the coolest phones) & then activated it as a verizon phone.

The following registry changes might partially restore the call announcement, a short-term solution until something better comes along:

HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\TTSAnnounce\Category: change VoiceCommand1 to Ring
HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\TTSAnnounce\Script: change as5p to v0p (for vibrate and ring) or p (for ring only)

With this change, the ringtone will start - and then be interrupted with the calller ID/name announcement. (Assuming that call announcement has been enabled in Voice Command).

Only major flaw with this solution is that the announcement volume is low.
these edits worked great on my phone thanks(clicked the button).

Re: voice command not announcing incoming calls

When I first got my TP, these regedits worked great. I like the announce the incoming call feature & always had it working in my old Titan.

I messed up the TP & did a hard reset & now I can't get the feature to work again........

Re: voice command not announcing incoming calls

I'm always a little sketchy on making changes to the registry. First off, how do I access the registry on my Touch Pro? Second, once I access the registry, will these files overwrite existing files, or do i manually type in the new ones. Appriciate all your guys help and support.

Re: voice command not announcing incoming calls

tried this tweak to increase call announce volume but sadly it does not work

increase the volume , navigate to
HKCU\Control Pannel\SoundCategories\VoiceCommand1 Then change the value of AttenuationCategory from 4 to 1
Sound of the voice command will be even higher than the ringing tone.
You can also change the value of InitVol to 40
