Re: Touch Pro Battery life!!! Post your reviews!!

Why not install NuePower... and see what your discharge rate on idle is and report back?

My IDLE drain rate is 161 mA with the following settings.

Brightness on #2 (from the left)
Data Off
Radio On
Bluetooth On

With DATA ON and IDLE ... 161 mA
With DATA ON and ACTIVE... 410-423 mA

I didn't use NuePower, but instead the Battery logging application from Palladium (or something like that) found in another thread. When I was getting bad battery life (12-14 hours max life with barely any usage) my numbers were something along thie lines of:
113-157 with data, wireless, bluetooth off, with phone on, but inactive
400-600 or so with using data or an active phone connection

I think the key would be to check what the current draw is when the device is off/suspended, since this is where it is the majority of time, and in my case, when I was only getting 12-14 hours, where it was nearly 100% of the time.

I'm also pretty positive that something I installed, or some setting I had changed was probably causing my fast drain, since I've now had 2 charges that have lasted me 1.5-2 days under the same usage patterns (after reverting to the stock setup). Though it doesn't really explain why the first 2 days after reverting to stock I was still only getting ~12 hours of use per charge before it died.

Can anyone here comment on the current draw of radios of other phones? is 500+ mAh common when using the phone or data? It seems a bit excessive to me, but what do I know...

You might have a weather app that auto updates...

On standby for 8 hours.. I lose about 3%.

That is extremely high.

My Touch is at 28-35ma with those exact same settings.

My friend's 6700 does even less.

Yes. That is exactly what the problem is.

Research that many of us have done, with the help of programs like Palladium's BattLog, has shown that with BT turned on, (not being used,) and on a phone call... the phone can eat up 800mA.

That's ridiculous.

Also, I just let my phone sit for a bit, in stand-by, with data session connected, and it does fluctuate... it sits at 5-15 most of the time, and spikes to 230mA, if it starts pulling data...

On an active phone call, my Touch uses 220-280mA, with the screen on. With the screen off, it's pulling 180mA. This is using the earpiece.

There is no reason the Pro should pull 800mA on a phone call, unless the radio was horribly flawed. Also, my phone runs about 30 degrees cooler than the Pro.

Re: Touch Pro Battery life!!! Post your reviews!!

I took mine off the charger this morning at 6:15 AM and its 8:00 PM and I still have 60%. I've used the phone atleast 3 times for calls and checked it often for messages. I also have VZW Wireless SYnc up and running so its constantly getting messages and I have an alert tone set as well. I think it makes a big difference if you are in EVDO coverage areas.

Re: Touch Pro Battery life!!! Post your reviews!!

My battery has been impressively strong ever since I did the polling the tower hack.
I get a full days usage out of an overnight charge which is very commendable.
I used to have to force roam my MotoQ thought the TP would be the same in a fringe area. But it has been that way @ all.
