Re: Best GPS Mapping Software

Sprint Navigator is great and is free with any data plan.
I have limited (FREEEEE) PowerVision and it includes everything but PictureMail.

So far it seems like Tomtom 7 is the most fluid out of all the gps softwares.

I do have a simple problem with tomtom if anyone knows where to point me. I have address saved to the favorite and named the stars. Is there any way for me to view the favorite address or the destination address?

Also, is there an automatic dim/map color change depending on time for the tomtoms ?

thanks

Anyone have any recommendations for a back country type GPS program? One that can store waypoints, tracks, etc...

Sorry I am coming from the 6700 so I never had GPS built into the phone.

Sprint Navigation is FREE on all Windows Mobile Phones as of the Official Windows Mobile 6.1 Update if you upgrade to a data plan that has it included.
FREE FREE FREE FREE FREE!

Please tell me where you got this information from.
It is free for the current everything plans and also the new SERO.
It is not free for past sero plans or for people who have just data and mins.

Please dont spread this misinformation with "free free free", if you only have data it would give you like a 5 day trial with the option to subscribe to it for a 10$/month fee.

yeah, last time i checked i have to pay an extra $10/mo for sprint navigation.
of course, my vision plan only costs $10/mo, so i guess i shouldn't gripe.

what is the best gps program that doesn't require a separate sd card and is available in the US? iGO appears to be euro-centric, and tomtom7 doesn't seem to officially exist according to tomtom.com

am i missing something?

I'm still waiting for mapquest to be updated to work for my current device

Ok, i give up. i'm just gonna spend $10 for a month of sprint nav and hope that gives the devs long enough to update mapquest.
*sigh*

Okay, sez my phone isn't authorized. wtf? okay, so maybe i won't.

Called them up, they had to do something, now it works.
so i'll try this until mapquest is up and running

Boo Boo, on your TP, did you open up Opera and go to http://m.google.com and install MAPS from there? You should be able to download and install the cab file that way. Then, it should work.

At first, it defaults to San Francisco and then you use GPS from the pop-up menu and voila!

HTH,

In Google Maps select the Options menu, then GPS Setting. Change the options to "Set Manually" and then use the first drop down menu to select COM4.

The port that you select should match the COM port that shows in the settings for "External GPS" in the "System" tab in the settings panel.

Now back to the menu, select "Use GPS" and it works for me.

Hmmm, I have mine set to Managed by Windows and it works fine for me.
