As much as I love Martin Fields overlays, they are simply too thick for touch screens. You could always do the input force registry hack to make the touch screen a lot more sensitive, though.

I think I'm just going to leave my Touch Pro nekkid. Unless I can find a few stock screen protectors cheap and get lucky one of the times. I have some left over liquid from the craptastic Invisible Shield I bought before, so I might try the wet method next time. If there is a next time, that is.

Yeah I did it this way too. I basically pulled the backing away from the top of the screen protector about maybe 1/3 of the way. I then lined up the top of the exposed screen protector with the top edge of the screen making sure that the speaker hole was lined up. I didn't have to touch the exposed screen protector (my hand was holding the bottom of it and the backing that was pulled back). Once it was lined up, I used my other hand to start pressing it down on the screen moving side to side until the rest of the screen was covered and the backing was totally removed. Seemed to work well to prevent fingerprints on the screen protector and it ended up lining up almost perfectly. Go slowly and press lightly until you know for sure you have it lined up well as you can still readjust if necessary if you haven't pressed too much of it down.

Re: Sprint Touch Pro Stock Screen Protector a Major PITA to install

I'm glad this tread was here. I completely forgot that the phone came with a screen protector. I have put a decent amount of screen protectors on. I installed it right after I took a shower so most dust particles were settled. I used a microfiber cloth and compressed air to get the screen dust and smug free.

I recommend starting the screen protector by the hardware keys. If you align the left and right bottom, the screen protector will align with the upper part of the screen. Make sure you hands are thoroughly cleaned before touching the screen protector. I would even say not to remove the screen protector from the manual/bag until you are installing it. Otherwise, it will collect dust around the edges.

After you lay the screen protector on the screen, before you use a credit card to push any air bubbles out, you can use a needle to CAREFULLY remove any dust particles that may gotten between the screen and the protector. I would not do this unless you are sure you won't damage anything, because its easy to do. I used a needle to get two dust particles out, I couldn't get the 3rd one. I usually end up with 1 or 2 between the screen and the protector. Luckily, its hard to notice since it didn't cause any air bubbles. I am pretty anal about the screen and scratches, so spend a lot of time getting it as perfect as I can.

I wish HTC installed this instead of the temporary cover since it would be dust free. I even though about building a small enclosure with a filter and fan so there wouldn't be any dust. Any who is getting the Boxwave Crystal clear should let me/us know how it works. This is the brand I used on my Mogul, it worked out really well. Good luck with your installs.

Re: Sprint Touch Pro Stock Screen Protector a Major PITA to install

yeah, i got one little tiny corner at the bottom that's not seated.
i tried twice to get it right, now i think i bent it. guess i'll live with it. i'd rather have teh protection with a little bubble than nothing. it also seems like the protector makes the whole surface more flush.
still way easier than trying to do the older ones with the countersunk screen

You guys still bother with them? My experience with protectors is that they don't really protect from much (the screen is pretty tough as it is), and they are a major pain to get to look right.

I have been using touch screen phones for years, and have never bothered using a screen protector before... On the first day with this phone, I managed to scratch the screen with my fingernail!!! So no, the screen on this is not tough at all, it's surprisingly delicate!

Needless to say, I put the screen protector on...

Mine didn't go perfect at all and I have a bubble on the bottom right that just won't come out, but I don't really care too much since I'll be getting an invisible shield as soon as it's available for the phone!

Did I mention I love this phone!

Re: Sprint Touch Pro Stock Screen Protector a Major PITA to install

most screen protectors i've seen are very flimsy and a real chore to work with, like cellophane.
this one is much stiffer and thicker. just hold by the edges. line up against the bottom and lay it on.
i normally don't do screen protectors, but this one integrates pretty well, or at least it seems like it's intended to.
