When I peel the plastic piece with the writing off there is nothing underneath but some some slightly heavier than normal paper with a wax coating... Am I missing something here?
It's with the manual (maybe inside of it) It will be completely clear and have a little hole the shape of the speaker cut out of the top.

Re: Sprint Touch Pro Stock Screen Protector a Major PITA to install

I'm glad this tread was here. I completely forgot that the phone came with a screen protector. I have put a decent amount of screen protectors on. I installed it right after I took a shower so most dust particles were settled. I used a microfiber cloth and compressed air to get the screen dust and smug free.

I recommend starting the screen protector by the hardware keys. If you align the left and right bottom, the screen protector will align with the upper part of the screen. Make sure you hands are thoroughly cleaned before touching the screen protector. I would even say not to remove the screen protector from the manual/bag until you are installing it. Otherwise, it will collect dust around the edges.

After you lay the screen protector on the screen, before you use a credit card to push any air bubbles out, you can use a needle to CAREFULLY remove any dust particles that may gotten between the screen and the protector. I would not do this unless you are sure you won't damage anything, because its easy to do. I used a needle to get two dust particles out, I couldn't get the 3rd one. I usually end up with 1 or 2 between the screen and the protector. Luckily, its hard to notice since it didn't cause any air bubbles. I am pretty anal about the screen and scratches, so spend a lot of time getting it as perfect as I can.

I wish HTC installed this instead of the temporary cover since it would be dust free. I even though about building a small enclosure with a filter and fan so there wouldn't be any dust. Any who is getting the Boxwave Crystal clear should let me/us know how it works. This is the brand I used on my Mogul, it worked out really well. Good luck with your installs.

I wouldn't trim a screen protector, it won't be concentric and it will look like crap. I have had screen protectors like that, its better to just spend $10 to $20 and get some that the proper dimensions for the phone.

Not retarded. I just e-mailed them to get clarification. They don't say it's the GSM version, but I noticed their other accessories show the diamond-styled backing. Yet the front photo doesn't include the front camera, so something's screwy. I've e-mailed them to ask them to verify and cancel my order if it's not for the Sprint version.

Re: Sprint Touch Pro Stock Screen Protector a Major PITA to install

yeah, i got one little tiny corner at the bottom that's not seated.
i tried twice to get it right, now i think i bent it. guess i'll live with it. i'd rather have teh protection with a little bubble than nothing. it also seems like the protector makes the whole surface more flush.
still way easier than trying to do the older ones with the countersunk screen

You guys still bother with them? My experience with protectors is that they don't really protect from much (the screen is pretty tough as it is), and they are a major pain to get to look right.

Re: Sprint Touch Pro Stock Screen Protector a Major PITA to install

most screen protectors i've seen are very flimsy and a real chore to work with, like cellophane.
this one is much stiffer and thicker. just hold by the edges. line up against the bottom and lay it on.
i normally don't do screen protectors, but this one integrates pretty well, or at least it seems like it's intended to.

Re: Sprint Touch Pro Stock Screen Protector a Major PITA to install

Has anyone found a suitable replacement? I sufficiently screwed up mine trying to put it on........

I found this: http://www.thepocketsolution.com/Mer...Code=PSI-53632

But I need to call and see if that really is for the sprint one because the picture is slightly....wrong.....

I really want an invisible shield.....I put them on all my stuff cause they really protect them the best for resale.

Re: Sprint Touch Pro Stock Screen Protector a Major PITA to install

Any one interested in the Boxwave version for the Sprint Touch Pro should go to the link below and request it. They said they will only make a product when they have a certain number of requests. I bet they will make this anyway, but requesting might help.

http://www.boxwave.com/community/request/index.htm

I would also be willing to take anyone's screen protector that came with their phone if they don't want it anymore.

I have been using touch screen phones for years, and have never bothered using a screen protector before... On the first day with this phone, I managed to scratch the screen with my fingernail!!! So no, the screen on this is not tough at all, it's surprisingly delicate!

Needless to say, I put the screen protector on...
