go to stat
rt settings input and options under the keyboard and t9 settings and there is a box to change it for abc mode as well

hmmm i did that and i still have the same problem. (is there a way to have the correction feature when i used the slide out keyboard.?)

That did not work. Try: FN key + space bar, T9 English option and then it works, but it doesn't stay that way permanently.

I barely use the hard kb, I am on the look out for a solution. It did work b4 w/o any tweaks...

it seems you can either have the soft keyboard or the hard keyboard, not both.

I had the same compliant about the text not auto correcting the "i" to "I" or "dont" to "don't". this is not a T9/ABC issue so do not assume changing that will correct it..

I have both the soft keyboard "Full Qwerty" and working correction with the hard keyboard..

I followed the hack to correct auto correct and did a soft reset. At that time my phone was in "compact qwerty" mode when closed. All I did to correct this was the following steps

with phone closed
tap the softkeyboard on your screen, then tap just to the right of it
tap other input methods
tap options
in the Input menue method I selected "full qwerty" again hit ok

This did not work!!! sooo I opened the soft keyboard again and tapped just to the right and ensured that on the Touch input settings it was on full qwerty and not compact qwerty

this worked for me.....

I have auto correction in both hard and soft keyboards.. (NOT talking about T9)
and I have the full qwert keyboard in landscape and portriate mode..

It just seems like it is getting hung up and you need to force the change...

FYI T9 does not work anylonger... you are now using the what we had on the 6800
