- For the processors after arguing for 20 minutes about the verizon phone having a different processor and being crippled with verizon designers, They finally looked into the information for me since there was a conflict of information from there corp, The verizon model is using a qualcomm 7501a processor, but is using a different driver ( this is why I was unable to find the driver I was looking for) now they are still currenlty discussing not crippling and a conference is set for the FCC for discussion about this.

Also you are correct, releasing information can put my job on the line, but the information I am releasing is helping the situation. Also I am scimming policy with the information but again that is scimming not breaking policy, its like they say with rules, dont break them! but no one said about bending them.
lol... Well no one has a magical crystal ball to predict the future, and I'm eager as anyone to see how this all turns out, but just through logical inference I've got some points/questions to be made.

It should be made repetitively clear that the given dates are entirely speculation on when things "could" occur.
Without that being extremely clear then nothing good can come of this.

It is stated that Sprints version of the phone needs an adjustment physical in nature. That would seem to add considerable time to the given dates.

It is stated that Verizon is having talks about changing the processor. Again, another unknown on time delay.

Also, in a later post, the answer about the heatshield didn't really clarify very well. Is the heatshield actually helping the battery life significantly? And if known, by how much is it helping?

To hope to clear this up, The With the heat shield added to the diamond when we did our testing, it did increase battery life about 13%, With the update to the radio ( the refresh and switching from evdo to 1x) Also assisted with another 8%. so battery life was a increase over all and the phone did stay cooler due to the heat was disapated all around the phone just not in one section.

My question ( and don't remember if this was answered already) is what will happen with those of us already owning the Diamond? Is Sprint/HTC going to fix our phones and add in this heat shield or are we just stuck with what we have? May not matter to me soon if I am still able to swap for the Pro but for some it might be an issue.

Due to FCC approved the phone without the heat shield sprint not HTC is held reliable for it. They dont have to do a recall of any type on the phone, Now here is what sprint and HTC are expecting. With the Pro release they already suspect a large majority of diamonds to be returned or exchanged. If the marjority hits a certain amount and from what is explained to me the part will be added.

Any chance of getting a good deal on "refurb" diamonds?

We are not pushing any refurbs of the diamonds yet, due to the discussion of the heat shield and issues

Hey Critical,

Any chance you have found any info on the release of the Telus Pro's? Ever since the Futureshop/Best Buy leaks, we are all getting anxious up here. Keep up the great work.

With about 12hours to go before these units will ship from your facility, pertaining to the 12:01 ship to Best Buy or Best Buy HUB.

Can you gauge your progress as:

1) Final stage ready to ship (just a matter of updating all devices)

2) Unresolved issues? Phones can ship with these unresolved issues?
Any direction so far that these issues if any at this point will delay shipping? (Would cause a delay)

3) Timeframe within the next 12hrs of a scheduled conference call or high level communication as you get closer to 12:01 tonight. Also , when will this high level (Sprint/HTC) update or communication occur.

Thank you for the info! Another question you might not even be able to answer is simply why in the h*ll did Sprint even release the Diamond with internal memory instead of using an SD slot so we can upgrade? It just seems like someone in Sprint had a retarded moment. Maybe there was a logical reason that you are aware of...although I can't fathom one myself. The Diamond would be perfect if not for that very HUGE flaw..IMHO.

In truth I dont have answer on that. HTC Designed the phone with internal memory before it was released to sprint, I agree it was not a smart move.
