Re: Tethering issues PLEASE HELP!

I did the [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing\Settings]
Delete The Following Key: "ForceCellConnection"

AND

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing]
Delete the .dll thing.

Tell me if it works dude

PS
Sorry that is supposed to bring the drop box back to phone as modem or Sprint. Choose Sprint on internet sharing app, connect after the "check connection" thing shows up, and you should be theoretically fine. If not, you can always try the bluetooth setting, I had to choose that for my Mogul...

Re: Tethering issues PLEASE HELP!

Here is a cab file for it

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...64&postcount=1

Set ForceCellConnection="Sprint" should be present under [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing\settings]

Also I have seen the connection names "Sprint PCS" under the connections settings. If that is the case, make sure the key above matches and says "Sprint PCS"

Hope that helps

Re: Tethering issues PLEASE HELP!

somewhat related question here,

is there a way to make it tether with the wifi connection? In the registry for ForceCellConnection="Sprint"can you change it to read "Wifi" or something?

It connected to my computer, so i disabled my current wireless connection thinking my phones connection would automatically take over. But i was wrong, as a matter of fact nothing happened. When i checked my network settings, it told me i was connected with limited or no internet. Huh? Really? did i do something wrong? When you select tethering from the popup screen does it automatically run the Internet Sharing app?
So now i tried unplugging and replugging my phone back in and now that little popup screen doesnt even show up. Activesync doesnt connect, but i figured you couldnt run activesync and tethering at the same time. But now even worse is when i go to the Internet Sharing app and hit connect, it doesnt connect, it just says "Check usb Cable". As im doing all of this i have network connections up on my computer, watching to see if anything changes. So here i am in the internet sharing app and i hit connect, it says check usb cable, so i hit disconnect and right when i hit disconnect, it shows that im connected on my pc. ????? But even still when i try to surf the web it doesnt work. IDK what i/i'm did/doing wrong.
I like the popup screen when i connect my device to pc and would like to get that back if possible. Can someone please shed some light on 1.How to Tether 2. How to get the popup screen back (even though in all settings->connections->usb to pc->"ask about connection type when i connect" IS checked)
Tried a soft reset to see if that would change anything, but nothing changed.
when did you get service with sprint?

I think what your looking for is this
http://wmwifirouter.com/
To turn your phone into an access point.

You can also tether via bluetooth instead of usb if you don't want to fool with the cable. In theory this could hold you back on your connection speed however.

Re: Tethering with Pro

Ok, So I am having the GAYEST time just strait USB tethering.

Can some one please give me steps for doing this?

When I tether it, I installed the "tethering" fix cab from Smartphonejunkie.com "Where they said you needed it for the internet sharing Fix", and then hit internet sharing, and it does nothing. Says it is identifying on my comp, yet on my phone it says it is connected....?

What am I doing wrong? I have looked through all the posts and just can't seem to put it together...Thanks everyone who helps!

Re: Tethering with Pro

The only problem with Schwartz's .cab is that there are about 20 other registry edits in there dealing with backlight, power settings and a few other things. I trimmed it down so that it only changes the required reg edits to enable the tethering. I have used it and it works fine on the touch pro. I have only used it with usb tethering.

Credit should still go to Schwartz, I have only trimmed the .cab down.

Re: Tethering with Pro

If anyone can figure out how to tether via USB with Vista x64 that would be an achievement.
