New Info on Touch Pro and Diamond
I thought I would post this under a new thread, try to keep the most recent news fresh...
Found this at http://www.phonearena.com/htmls/More...le-a_3021.html Yesterday we posted an article saying that the Sprint variant of the Touch Diamond may launch this month, but now we have slightly different information. Thanks to a few comments from our readers and some internal documents, we’ve pretty much got the information everybody wanted. First, HTC Touch Diamond will be called HTC Victor for Sprint and HTC Diamond for Verizon. Sprint’s variant runs on Qualcomm 7501A chipset with 528MHz processor, 256MB ROM, 256MB RAM and 4GB internal memory. Verizon’s runs on Qualcomm 7500 chipset with 400MHz processor, has half the RAM (128MB) and has microSD cards slot instead of 4GB NAND flash. Sprint’s Victor will have an accelerometer (Motion G Sensor), Rev.A straight out of the box, and aluminum frame. Verizon’s Diamond lacks the sensor, is Rev.A upgradable and has stainless steel frame. Other features seem to be similar to the GSM model and identical for both, including 2.8” VGA display, 3.2MP autofocus camera, TouchFLO 3D, Opera browser and YouTube client. The CDMA equivalent of the HTC Touch Pro will be called HTC Herman for Sprint and HTC Raphael for Verizon. They are QWERTY variants of respectively the Victor and the Diamond and have similar specifications, but twice the ROM memory (512MB for both). Herman trades Victor’s 4GB for memory card slot and Raphael’s frame is also made out of aluminum instead of steel. A few of our readers report that the Victor will be available with Sprint on September 02, 2008, and the Herman will come one month later. There is no exact information when Verizon Wireless will release the Diamond and the Raphael, but it is expected that Sprint will have 30 days exclusivity |

Re: New Info on Touch Pro and Diamond
divx - if you click on the link, there are actually scanned documents of the comparison between the 2 carriers.... Now anyone could slap a Sprint logo on a sheet a paper, but why bother?
I think this is as much "hard" evidence of what we will get in one to two months. Too bad it didn't say anything about price. |

Re: New Info on Touch Pro and Diamond
man .. I'm almost thinking about returning my Touch (within my 30 day window) .. going back to month to month SERO and re-connecting my A900. Then re-uping my contract and getting the Touch Pro in Sept. (is that even doable?!)

Re: New Info on Touch Pro and Diamond
I'm still hoping the touch pro/Herman will come out sooner. I noticed the Sprint site no longer lists the Mogul.
Also, very interested in the price. I've seen 499/599 249/349 after discounts, but I guess everything is speculation at this point until they come out. I agree with another poster that verizon's diamond doesnt make sense for HTC (adding memory card slot - removing feature) who knows. |

Re: New Info on Touch Pro and Diamond
I find it funny that Sprint somehow knows what versions of the phones verizon is going to have.. Anyone else think that smells fishy?

Re: New Info on Touch Pro and Diamond
Sprint is always the 1st to get them so its not that fishy..
Sprint told/bribed HTC to screw VZW over, ever since the 6800XV... ![]() ![]() Last edited by Genjinaro; 08-05-2008 at 12:55 PM. |

Re: New Info on Touch Pro and Diamond
it's so random that the specs are so different. All the way down to the material of the frame... and it's not like sprint has steel frames for theirs and verizon has aluminum. they're flipflopped? I dont understand the inconsistency. oh well, it's beyond us and i'll just be excited when we get it.
