TP will not use WIFI connection

When I activate the WIFI connection on my TP it connects to my WIFI network just fine but it will not use it for the data connection. If I use the browser or a streaming media client it connects using the 3G connection. If I disable the 3G connection or turn the phone radio off and leave the WIFI connection active the browser tells me it cannot connect to the internet.

I have disabled the security on my wireless router and the connection shows connected fine. I can use WIFI for the connection on my wife's Diamond and other computers in the house so it is specific to this phone. When I look at the advanced wireless settings on the phone it says "Associated with network" but the IP address is not one that would be issued by my router. When I click "renew ip" it just beeps and does nothing.

Any ideas?

Make sure all your parameters are ok, i.e Shared, Open (not the case), WEP also, settings about the connection "connecting to Internet" not work. If not, delete partnership and recreate on TP side.

Double checked all of that and also deleted the profile and tried it again still no luck. After I delete the profile and hit refresh it finds the network right away again and connects to it with no problem but the phone still does not use the wifi connection as it should.

It works fine on my wife's Diamond so I am starting to think this is an issue with my phone that may require hard reset. Is there a good way to back up all of my data and the settings including SBP Shell? I really do not want to have to set that all back up again.

not a bad idea man, use spb back up, resco back up or Sprite. They all have free trials. And a back up pro is a must have. I suggest Resco, i use all of them but go with Resco as numero Uno

Thanks for the help. I was hoping for maybe a quick fix but I think I'll bite the bullet and do the hard reset.

if that is going to get you a back up program , I think it is a win win situation
