Re: Googlemaps My location w/o GPS or WiFi
I am pretty sure for GPS google maps uses Satellites to triangulate your position not cell phone towers. You will not be able to use My location unless you have GPS turned on(Menu-Options-Use GPS)

I think it uses assisted GPS, the cell tower is just used to find your general location, and make it faster to get a satellite lock, so you still need GPS for it to work. |

Re: Googlemaps My location w/o GPS or WiFi
It should work without GPS turned on and it does use towers for this. It is only accurate to couple 1000 meters or something like that. With GPS on it is very accurate and can get with in 20 ft or less.

Re: Googlemaps My location w/o GPS or WiFi
In order to get the non-GPS location services to work in Google Maps, you'll have to have the additional HTC/Google Location Services libraries installed. These are used quite heavily in Sense 2.5 so any ROM running Sense 2.5 should have it and I can verify that it does work w/ GMM as well... not sure how/where to get them w/o being cooked in to a ROM, tho.
