your texts show todays date with 2016 as the year when sent and recieved. for me, i always get a time stamp and day old msgs show date. i didn't know i had the bug til 1/2/10 when it showed day old text as 1/1/16 in fact i didn't even know about it. came to ppcgeeks.com main page with curent news on the 2nd and it was posted there. i looked and seen day old text.

So does this just switch the phone into "use the time the phone actually received the text" mode like Ziggys fix or will it still display the date and time of when the message reached the SMS server?

Hopefully they find a fix for the other "2016 or 2106" SMS error... That'd be awesome..!!

"With some flashed ROM's when you try to use HTCMessenger you get an error Msg. 2016 and it doesn't let you send the text out" =(

Can anyone valch and say the HTC Fix actually works and is decent? I haven't done it yet and I have the older rom version.
I've heard some bad things about the new Stock Rom Update, I'd like some opinions on it before I flash. :/

That post is in 2008. It might be the version.

Try this:
http://www.htc.com/us/support/touch-.../downloads#108

Warning: This is the HTC Touch Pro - Sprint Stock ROM. If you need one for a different company, search the website of the above link. This is the same link with the 2016 fix too. (look below the ROM file) Good luck!

+1 for custom roms, guess we'll have to wait and see, finally found a good one I been using for months and don't really want to hard restart/install stock rom

Guys, I've come up with a cab that fixes the issue on custom ROMs. It should work on any Sprint Touch Pro running a custom ROM. I don't know if it will work on any other phone, as I only have a Sprint Touch Pro to try it on.

This is a real fix, it uses the time that the message was sent by the other person, not the time the message was received by your phone (which is what ziggy's workaround does).

It will not fix your existing messages. To do that, run the CorrectSMSDate program found in the first post here. However, the CorrectSMSDate program stopped working for me for some reason on March 1, so I've come up with a quick and easy way to do it manually (much easier than the directions in the post I linked to), let me know if you want to know it.
