microsoft myphone syncing old texts back to my phone ?

so, i wanted to save some texts, but clear them out of my phone. so, i synced to myphone. i go to bed, and discover that not only did my texts go up to MS, but it pulled down well over a thousand old ones down to my phone. what the eff? i'm trying to decongest my phone, not fill it up. i can't find any settings that allow me to upload only.

lord, it took me an hour to go through and clean all that crap up. i don't want to do it again, and unless somebody has some info for me (i don't mind feeling silly for not seeing something, lol), i don't think i'll be using any text syncing services anymore.

ugh. and, in cleaning those up, somehow my phone decided it prudent to send out multiple text fragments to several people, from old texts. my gf got 7 partial texts from months ago, my sister got a number, and another random person that has my friend's old number got several as well.

messed up...booooo
