If you're that good with working in this system, talk to the devs in #htc-linux and see if you can help find the culprit of the issue. It's obviously the creation of that data.img file, it's just your solution seems less than desirable... I'd much prefer to see something go upstream into the official XDA builds!

Actually it seems like mounting it with out even extracting the tar file seemed to make it work with out the boot loop. maybe mkfs isn't getting enough time to flush to the sd card? I don't know. It just seems to someone who has a broken system to be easier than the work around, It only triggers on the data.img creation.

For the life of me I can't get this to work on my Verizon TP. I do all the steps, but when I run haret it loads linux then nothing happens.

Can you give us anything more to go on? Where does the boot die?

I'm going to echo Makk's request for more info. Do you get a looping X? Do you see any text on the screen?

The looping X issue is solved by deleting your data.img & trying to boot again.

lol i wanna play!

i'm going to bet it freezes after it says haret loading, just after the bar fills. check your startup.txt and try again. make sure your using the raph500.txt startup thats been renamed to startup.txt

oh, right. I forgot that that part says 'loading linux'. Yeah. Probably if it's not the startup (though that would definitely do exactly that), then it's that you grabbed the latest kernel from the old autobuild site instead of the new one. I put the correct link in the post about raph500, but hadn't updated page 1. the correct link should have /android2/ in the path.

(To clarify, I have now also updated page 1 to point to the correct page.)

So I cannot get it to load.

I tried two ways.

1) installed the 05-11-10 version replacing the files with the rootfs.img file from the latest build 06-06-10 already merged in. got the endless loop so...

2) ran 03-31-10 version thru setup, then did the same as above. It ran the 03-31-10 version ok, but it loaded up the newest build suuuuper slow and said it have to force close programs on startup and never really was usable.

not sure how to run that newest build...

Its weird playing with the rootfs that i made once i get it to boot i can delete the data.img and leave the current squashfs and it will rebuild the data img, im wondering if there is something in the build.prop that is the difference. I hope to figure it out soon..

Did you try my patch from the end of the last page?
