Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro (RAPH800) - PRE-ALPHA (not yet usable)

So with this new build, I'm having a little bit of an issue syncing with my google account. Anyone else having this issue?

Sorry, let me be more specific... The handset pretty much flatlines and reboots whenever I try to do anything related to my google account. I dunno, seems the stability of this new build is a bit questionable from me just playing around with it. (And Last.fm still crashes the phone every time I try to download it heh)

The stability of every build has been more than questionable -- but this one seems better than most for me.

I have not had any trouble with my google account on it. You could try deleting your data.img and starting over. Sometimes things get out of whack, and a fresh start helps. But it is annoying to set up everything all over again.

I think memory heavy apps are not stable but in this early stage we can't really expect them to be. The android build works best when used for text, and IM and very light browsing. My google account syncs very well. if I keep my use light my main problem now is the battery life :)

It has to be something along the lines of ' mksquashfs "C:\New System\" system.sqsh '

That would re-compact the entire "New System" folder into the file "system.sqsh"

hey, thanks for clearing that up. i just wanted to remove some apps but now i get an error.

im trying to find if i have to edit anything else when i remove apps and all i removed was that task killer app.

This thread is specific to the sprint version I believe the files won't work (or work as well) on the verizon version. apparently the hardware differences significant enough to throw things off.

Are you using the zImage from the first post in this thread? If it's booting, that's a really good sign, and we can work with it. If you're using something else linked here, then I guess that's less surprising, and good luck, I wish I could help more.

I had trouble with the windows squashfs... I don't know which version you're using. I asked for instruction on compiling squashfs images, and babijoee said he did it thusly:

sudo unsquashfs system.sqsh
(make changes)
sudo mv ./squashfs-root ./system
sudo genext2fs -d ./system -b 100000 -a system.ext2
mkdir ext2mount
sudo mount -o loop ./system.ext2 ./ext2mount
sudo mksquashfs ./ext2mount newsystem.sqsh

doing all those things through sudo (i.e. doing them as root) is important, because it keeps all the file ownership/permissions from getting messed up. I'm not sure if that stuff gets messed up regardless of how you do it in windows. There's probably a right way to do it, but I didn't find it when I was trying.

His method is probably overkill -- all the stuff of making a filesystem out of the folder and then mounting it can probably be dropped. But that's straight from the horse's mouth on how to build the system.sqsh.

Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro (RAPH800) - PRE-ALPHA (not yet usable)

So I deleted my data.img, let it create a new one, and kept having issues with it crashing every time it tried to sync my google account over evdo. So... trial and error, I turned on wifi and used that to sync. Worked like a charm. Tried to download last.fm app while using evdo, and it kept crashing. Turned wifi on again and the app was able to download without an issues. I figured what the heck and ran the app while connected to wifi and I'm able to play music without the handset crashing. Unfortunately, if I use just evdo for this, it crashes.
