Sorry I didn't make it clear. I did download and rename the eclair.user.conf file and was using it. When I first booted into Android, I wasn't able to navigate the first screens, using my finger. Each button I had to select with the d-pad and then hit the enter button to select. I got tired of that. When the screen timed out, I was unable to unlock the screen. The slider is so far out of calibration, I can't slide it. I really want Android to work on my RAPH800, but I'm back to using my Touch. Almost everything "just works" on the Touch: GPS, camera, calls, sms, internet, keyboard (on screen), the Market, etc. I'm going to get out my laptop again, so I can format the blinking SD card. I'll try again...

Perhaps you have conflicting calibration data in your startup.txt. I don't think you need 'mddi.width=320', 'mddi.height=480' and 'msmts_calib=0x81.0x393.0x358.0x7D' in the 'set cmdline' statement anymore. Or just grab makkonen's startup.txt from the first post.

My work around to uploading my contacts was to sync my phone with my GMail account. Then when I set up the phone I linked it to my GMail account and all my contacts got imported.

I just set up the sync with my contacts. The link below explains how to set it up.

I'm running the newest build having the exact problem...and I'm using newest startup from 1st page.

did you check while it was booting to see if the lines with 'touch_calibration' came up between the loading of ramzswap and A N D R O I D showing up on screen (before the Nexus One boot animation starts)?

maybe it wasn't loading the eclair.user.conf correctly. If it was, maybe your device has a very different calibration, which would be somewhat surprising to me. Once again, I don't know why this is causing so much trouble, but when the real calibration tool comes along, it should improve things markedly.

And I'm with you on the Touch. First of all, it's a better form factor -- such a nice feeling phone. And then how everything just works in Android is just amazing. Wish it had more ram/storage/better proc/accelerometer/etc.

Go to /Storage Card/conf/
Delete eclair.user.conf
Download eclair.user.conf.txt from the first post in this thread
rename eclair.user.conf.txt to eclair.user.conf
Put the new eclair.user.conf in /Storage Card/conf/
Then try booting again.
