outlook email lag

i use outlook exchange server for work. in my activesync settings i have set to synchronize when new items arrive during both peak and off-peak times

with my blackberry, i used to receive email immediately which would actually be before i would get them on my desktop outlook program.

with my htc tp2, there is a 5- 10 minute lag.

any ideas for how to fix this lag time?

Re: outlook email lag

It could be your firewall config or your providers firewall config. I'm dealing with a similar issue now and from what I can tell it's Verizon's problem. Basically, activesync opens a standing http/s connection to Exchange and if the firewall times out the connection too quickly the messages don't get through till the next resync period. You can manage it a bit by adjusting some heartbeat interval values in the phones registry, but I'm sure battery life suffers. Activesync defaults to using a 30 minute session and at minimum 15 minutes. I had to drop mine below 5 minutes to get around Verizon.
