Full QWERTY keyboard on phone screen

rarely do I call numbers that aren't in my contacts, I was wondering if there is a way to get the QWERT on-screen keyboard up on the dial screen. That way when I push the phone button it would be easier to enter the first couple of letters of the name, rather than trying to find the letters on the dialpad.

I would like to know if this is possible as well. Another option would be if an onscreen qwerty keyboard could be called up from the home screen so I could begin typing and search my contacts. The phone allready has the capability to do this since you can jsut start typing using the slide out keyboard from the home screen and quickly locate a contact but there is currently no way to bring up the onscreen keyboard.

Anyone have any ideas? being able to very quickly call any of my contacts from the home screen is the thing I miss the most from my Treo 800w.

Re: Full QWERTY keyboard on phone screen

I just go to contacts, type first few letters, click the contact, click call.
But most of the time I use Voice Command.

Yeah, the easiest thing to do is use the phone pad to type the first few letters of the person's name and it should start a list of matching results. For instance, my best friends name is Sexy Mama and all I hit is 739 and it's instantly up at the top. A quick click and it's dialing her.
