Re: Best GPS Software for TP2
As already mentioned by aznmode and jmorton10, Co-Pilot 8 may have a very good interface with lots of useful information, but it ultimately fails due to old maps and lack of TTS. If they ever fix those issues and add the advertised voice recognition capability, then they might have a winner.
I have tried Co-Pilot Live 8, iGo8, iGuidance, and Tomtom7. I like iGo8, but I am having dificulty with the settings not being remembered from previous sessions (illumination and region settings specifically). I like the simple menus and contact integration capability of iGuidance (if only there were a WVGA skin). I recall liking TT7 when I had it installed in an in-dash multimedia automobile system, but I haven't tried it with the TP2 yet.... I guess I will stay with iGo8 for now, unless someone builds a skin for iGuidance (hint hint).

I also got the bluetooth to work with this verison of TOMTOM by finding the bluetooth files \Windows\BtSdkCE30.dll and \Windows\BtCoreIf.dll with total commander before I allow TOMTOM to reset. Better yet try the cab above it is 100 times better!!!! Don't forget to thank me. Last edited by jamice4u; 01-28-2010 at 01:26 AM. Reason: New information. |

Re: Best GPS Software for TP2
I am really happy with my gps now. I am running the stock US Cellular rom. I am using the 7.916.9192_vga_black tweaked cab. I uninstalled gpsgate from my phone. It works great without gpsgate. only about a second of lag. I have the maps/voices etc. on the storage card and the TT cab installed in the device memory.

The maps I'm using are USA_Mexico_840.2570. I had a bunch of voices on my sd card but found that when I removed the extra ones it reduced the lag time. Now I have just one voice on it. I will upload them one at a time as I want to change them. I put a couple icons on last night for the car symbol but it seemed to make it lag an extra second so I removed them. I got the TT cab from this site and the maps from gps undergroundforums.com There is a program called easy activator on the same site that worked really well to activate the maps. you just put the maps and easy activator on your desktop. install the TT cab on your phone. after you install TT on your phone it will create a device ID. copy and paste that on your desktop too. then just follow the directions with the easy activator. when finished save the maps and voices to your sd card. when you install TT your bluetooth won't work. There is a cab on this site that you install on your phone, reboot, and bluetooth is fixed. sorry I can't be more help with exactly where on this site I found the cabs. I'm new on here. hope this helps |

Re: Best GPS Software for TP2
I'll put a vote in for Nav4All, since I'm cheap and it's free and works perfectly on my T-Mobile TP2.
It doesn't have an onboard device map catalog, downloading maps as you go. But the price is right, and it talks to me. So I'm happy. |
