YAY!! I just got my TP2! :DD

hello every one, its been awhile. however, i am back, and with a new HTC TP2! my Omnia was getting on my nerves..so i bought this.

anyway, i need some help getting going. im running standard wm 6.1. i want to up the anti to 6.5, for performance purposes, still have TF3D, and be able to tether, without being charged for it. i read that the custom roms were having problems with allowing the internet shareing to work without it charging your account, if that makes any sense? i tether ALOT, and i was never charged for it. maybe its my plan? idk, but i dont want to risk the high bills that ive seen so far. has this issue been accurately fixed? i am on verizon wireless. im confused as to what settings i need for my phone, as far as cdma, or gsm etc. any help would be greatly apretiated!! and a recomendation for a nice rom would be cool too.

Congrats. The TP2 is sure a sweet device. I would give Mighty Mikes latest creation a whirl. I personally have a phone with memory problems with 6.5 atm lol but his rom is a good clean starting point for most and it is very quick. Also you might be interested in just sticking with the stock 6.1 for a bit. You might want to manually delete a little bit of Service providor app garbage but it is quite fast and stable as well.

thanks for your reply! i will take that into strong consideration. what kind of stuff would i want to delete? and how does tethering work on the stock rom as far as being charged goes? i really dont need to be accidently charged when i have the unlimited data plan..im having enough money problems right now.

Tethering on the stock rom takes a bit of tinkering with reg settings and such you can search for on this forum. Its a bit of trial and error but it either works or doesnt on Sprint. No way to get it to work and be charged for it as far as I know. I do know the HTC WiFi Router that you can download for the phone is a simple install and go.

The apps you can delete are things such as the Nascar and nfl app, sprint navagation (if you dont use it), and all the example pics, video, or music, in my documents and such, and the Sprint Titan crap that is in a folder in the windows directory. (I'll have to get back to you on what the folder name was since I deleted it lol.) The rom is a little bloated but I can make it work for the apps I install. A normal empty rom can net you over 200MB rom free to work with while the stock sprint is i believe less then 150 free at the start. (ram is about the same and will adjust with tinkering with each rom with about 110-80m free which is great).

Their are a lot of tweeks you can do with any rom you choose so look around and tinker away. I personally like to do a lot of manual editing rather then a all in one cab to do this but to each his own.

IM0001 is spot on. this is actually the first stock rom I see as usable out of the box , been here since the apache. they all needed major overhaulin to make em work right. I have been a 6.5 fan since the first leaked roms on my touch. but I haven't even bothered unlocking my tp2 yet. its that stable. just a couple reg edits for tethering and all is well
